Yeah it would be especially now that it's 12 years old. :D

I think 117 amps is the standard value. I was poking around to see if I could find that article about using an alternator from another vehicle, like a Dakota, or Durango. Seems like it was 136 amps or something.

I also read something about "rewinding" the alternators. That sounds interesting.

The 136 amp alternator is out of a ZJ. I have an ohm meter that with an amp clamp that measures DC amps. I need to check my own, since it seems a little weak to me.

If memory serves me correct on my 99 TJ the stock alternator was 90 amps. But the heavy duty electrics (included with A/C or available as an option) had a 117 amp alternator. So yes your workup seems correct.

I wonder what years this was available.. my 91-93 Mopar parts book does not show anything but a 90 amp.

The alt. in my ZJ is 128 amp. The largest replacement at Advance / AutoZone/ Napa is a 120 amp unless I go with a Powermaster 170 amp, but I can't afford 400.00.

mine is 100 amp. its what was stock in my '90. there is a 140 amp ford you can get and do a little work and use it in our cherokees.
