I recently bought an 89 cherokee and there are no highbeams when i pull the switch or flash to pass like there should be. Im not sure if there is a relay under the hood somewhere for this year. I checked the fuse and its fine. Or is it in the steering column. I can hear a faint click when I pull the switch handle but nothing. I did find some relays but not sure if they are for the highbeam/lowbeam. Any help would be great.

I had weird problems with my 95 when I got it, ended up being the harness connector, corroded really bad. But my problems were intermittent.

The actual switch is connected to a rod. It is located on the bottom side of the steering column under the dash about half way to the floorboard. Start there.

Check to see if your wires are hooked up correctly to the high/low beam switch.
If they are, check to see if you have power at the switch.
If no power the switch is bad.
The switch is located on the left side of the steering column under the dash

Thats just what I would do, for a place to start trouble shooting

If you checked the switch, the one on the bottom of the steering column under the dash and you are not getting power out of it to the high beams, then you need to replace the switch. Problem solved.

It will come off. You may have to stand on your head to do it, but it is removable.
