Just bought a 96' Cherokee Sport 4 door last friday and needed to research the "death wobbles" and wound up here. The Jeep has a 2" lift and I would like to make a reliable DD and Trail rig out of her......nothing too extreme.

Hopefully I'll get the DW's taken care of soon so I can drive her on the highway.

I'm looking forward to soaking up all of the info and experience on this forum.....Thanks in advance to you all.

Marc, welcome to the site. Death wobbles are common. Get someone to turn your steering wheel back and forth while you look at the steering components. Everything should move in the same direction. If something is moving and the wheels are not that is probably the source of your steering problems. After you do this, start another post and we will walk you through it. Good luck.

I'll get to work this weekend and see what I can find. I know a new set of tires will help....mine are shot, but I'll definitely check out all of the suspension and steering mechanisms for any loose play.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement.....even with the wobbles I'm loving my new XJ.

Surely after a while you get used to "DEATH WOBBLES" and they just become "SCARY SHAKES"... :driving:
