I have seen angle shims placed under the leaf springs to help driveline angles. I'm trying to avoid doing a case drop, but I go through u joints every couple months.

If your running a cv shaft be sure the pinion is pointed directly at the TC if not and you have a two system be sure that you equal but opposing angles of less than one degree. As for the shims I have never seen one without them the big differeance is what they are made of we use only steel shims yes there more but worth every penny !!!

The limit of flex for that ujoint is about 5" of lift. It starts hitting the slip yoke at that much bend, which will take out the joint quickly. At this point you have two choices. You can substitute a YJ slip yoke or you can to with a SYE. I believe Rusty's has the right yoke or you can talk to one of our other vendors and see if they have one.

Or drop the tcase 1", right?

You could do that too, although I don't care for that option. A new yoke is the best option.

Oh I agree SYE is the best option, but it's $500 for my NP242 and the 1" drop came with my 4.5" lift kit. :sad0147:

a dye grinder a few minutes can resess any yoke and give you much more clearance or we use a local drive line shop here thats sells them already resessed I have heard as much as 33* on some.

I may have mis understood you 4.3 the joint that REPEATEDLY goes out is the driveshaft to the rear axle.... the slip yoke end is a cheapy one from AZ and has been there for about two years and its doing GREAT for some reason... what I THINK has happened is I slopped out my yoke a little bit cause the driveshaft portions of every joint I replaced is fine its the yoke sides that are crapped out...

I just replaced my u-joint about an hour ago and I checked the slip yoke end and that joint is STILL doing great .... amazing huh

It could be as you say. But I would suggest you check for the same conditions of over flexing. That is quite a bit of lift for a stock driveline.
