I just bought a 2000 Jeep XJ and the dealership put new tires on the jeep. I wanted a more aggressive tire and wheel so I changed them out. They only have 400 miles on them and are a week old. Included are the factory jeep wheels. Bolt pattern 5x5. They are Fallen Ziex S/TZ04 LT 31x10.50R15.

If I had the funds I might grab these for my '90... Helluva deal!

"donk" is style of customization. All though not a very good one. Its basically lifting a car and putting huge wheels on it.

I sent an e-mail asking about the mileage.

Hi,
Thank you for being interested in buying my 1999 Jeep Cherokee SE, automatic transmission, 98,603 miles. It is in EXCELLENT condition; the body and paint are great, no scratches and no dents; the interior is clean; it has never been involved in an accident; the title is clear. I bought it when i was serving in Travis AFB, California, but i was promoted and transferred to Fort Richardson in Anchorage Alaska for a 3 years period, so I do not want to let it ruin in my backyard, therefore I need a fast and reliable buyer. The car is already at our Military Logistic Department from Travis AFB, California, U.S. Army, crated and ready to go. The shipping will be free for you because I will transport it using the internal logistic department! The Logistic Department will deliver the car to the nearest Us army base from your area and from there I will use a tow-truck to have it delivered at your door. The whole shipping process will take 3-4 days.
As I'm unable to travel in the near future I decided to make this transaction through Google Wallet at a lower price. I believe this protects both buyer and seller and it's the right way to do this.
The final price is $2.500 which include delivery at your home address. If you decide to buy this car email me your: Full Name and Shipping address , so I can inform Google Wallet that I have a buyer! I will forward your details to them and then you will receive an invoice (with no further obligations or fees). Then you will be able to talk with them directly and ask all you want to know.
If you need further information and pics please get back to me as soon as possible!

Hope to hear from you soon!
Thanks,
Lt. Anna

I'd have more luck with that angle if it were still a daily driver! If I use it about the trails, she'll just say "Well, you always have friends with a winch or straps to pull you out" :P

She's not against me getting the tires, but I get a $50/mo Jeep fund now days. I MIGHT be able to convince her that since tires can be over $1100, that they shouldn't come out of my "Jeep fund"

You do have to drive to the wheeling place... at highway speeds. :D

It would take a while to get $1100 at that rate. Nearly two years, and that's without buying anything else for it.

Think its time to bring up how much her stuff costs. On second thought, that might be a bad suggestion. :p

After seeing 4x4Dalton's old Jeep with one motor mount broken completely off, and I'm talking about the "ears" on the block. Held in place by a foot long metal rod jammed against the inside of the bay and the block, then hearing from Tim at BrownDog (motor mount peeps) how it's very common for the 4.0 to break the (bosses?) ears off, I decided to get my BrownDog motor mounts NOW instead of later.

This might help you "sell" the idea to the wife.

Good idea, if I can convince her that it might save money in the long run, she may agree, or buy them on the sly. But she always checks what ever the UPS man drops off. And I get the 3rd degree.

Shoot, my wife keeps track of the registry so we always know EXACTLY how much money we have instead of relying on what the online banking says.... that means ALL receipts go to her.... I can't hide anything. When I want to buy her a gift, I have to borrow money from my dad or her mom so I can surprise her.... then we have to pay them back after the gift is given. I mean, it's a smart way to keep track of our money, and it has helped a lot, but :sad0147:

08-11-2013, 09:42 PM
Well, I don't have to do that, and I really wouldn't buy anything on the sly. But $50 a month isn't much, can you even keep up with routine maintainence with that? It really sucks not being rich.

Brasscatz
08-11-2013, 09:48 PM
Yeah, it's not a daily anymore so it's going to be neglected a bit in the routine maintenance part anyways. I thought I'd have $50-$100 in my Jeep fund by now, but she hasn't made up the new budget tables yet.

BEST CL AD EVER:
http://images.craigslist.org/00e0e_bRX0XWlTCLX_600x450.jpg
1997 Jeep Cherokee (XJ)
220K Miles
4.0 L in-line 6
4WD
AUTOMATIC Transmission
Bright Red
Straight Stock
Crank Windows, no cruise, no tilt, no delay wiper, no nonsense
POWER MIRRORS! Woo Hoo!

$1750

Here's the deal, kids:
This is a Jeep Cherokee. This is not a luxury SUV, or a maintenance-free disposable import. It has solid front axles, wind noise, and character.
It's a Jeep. It rides like a Jeep. It drives like a Jeep. All of these are GOOD things.
It is not new, it is not pristine, it is used. This will be apparent in the pictures.

If you do not own a toolbox, have never changed your own oil, and are scared of firearms: THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FOR YOU.
If you have been posting on facebook all about how excited you are for pumpkin latte season: THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FOR YOU.
If you get offended easy and often, whine to your co-workers, and bitch a lot: THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FOR YOU.
If you feel you are owed anything in the world & have a bullshit job where you fail to produce: THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FOR YOU.
If you own a bieber album, white oakleys, affliction t-shirts, or those candy-assed stitched-pocket jeans: THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FOR YOU.
If you consider the 2nd Amendment an anachronistic relic and have never owned a firearm: THIS VEHICLE IS NOT FOR YOU.

If, however, you have BALLS OF STEEL and consider adverse weather an excuse to do stupid shit: THIS IS YOUR JEEP.
Do you laugh at danger, and tempt fate?
Have you ever uttered the words, "Hold my beer and watch this ..."?
While bored at work do you pick targets at random and think, "I could hit that from here with the .22 ..."?
Have any of your friends quit hanging out because you were too much fun?
Do you have the number of a friend with cash memorized for bail?
When you pass an abandoned flatbed farm truck along a fenceline do you consider taking on another project?
Is your ol' lady really sick of the random piles of parts, greasy footprints, and empty beer bottles in the garage?
-could you not care less?
Do you have Jalopnik saved on your laptop AND smartphone?
Do you own a service manual for every vehicle you ever owned?
Do you still miss your first ride?
Can you carry on a two hour conversation discussing tools, scars, and hi-lift jacks?
Remember when tool companies had the balls to put half-naked beauty queens on their calendars?
Do you consider the Prius an abominable affront to the Gods of displacement, torque, and All Mighty Internal Combustion?

If you answered in the affirmative to the preceding: THIS IS YOUR JEEP.

DETAILS:
-I am the second owner. First owner barely got it dirty and engaged the front axles once.
-I have remedied this excessive caretaking with muddy roads and a pile of fun.
-The motor uses a little oil. How much? I don't know, I'm not collecting statistical analysis points.
I check the oil, I fill the oil, I drive. Not enough to bother me.
-It leaks a little oil. How much? Not enough for me to care. It has 220,000 miles, Poindexter!
If you have a vehicle with 220K NOT leaking or burning oil, it's empty!
-Rear bumper has a big-ass crease in it. I dented it backing into a concrete pole. Sober.
We drove away giggling, for the record. Haven't fixed it.
-Driver's side door was caught by the wind, whipped forward, got into the LF quarter panel.
-Radiator has a small leak. Pinhole. I can replace the radiator or you can. Really doesn't matter
A new radiator and hoses will run $145. If you don't want to replace them I will.
Add $250 to the price of vehicle. This includes radiator, hoses, and labor (beer). A freaking bargain.
-The badass little 4.0L bullet-proof in-line six starts and runs like the proverbial champ.
-Tranny and 4WD operate perfectly
-Tires will need replaced in a couple thousand miles. I haven't upgraded because I had plans:
Had planned a small lift, upgrade to 17" Wrangler wheels, and more aggressive tires.
Life got in the way - it ain't happening.
-Zombie stickers on the right rear window stay. My daughter's idea, take it up with her.
-Flogging Molly sticker stays as well. They kick ass, so there.

QUESTIONS:
-Why are you selling?
I can't justify owning it anymore. Motorsickles, kiddos, work, travel, and beer have consumed my time and money.
Someone else needs to appreciate the Jeep for what it is: awesome mechanical artistry.

-What's wrong with it?
Radiator. Small oil leaks. Driver's side door cosmetic issues.
And it's pissed it has been neglected and parked. It needs rescued.

-Does the 4WD work?
Hell yes. Like a Dickensian Orphan.

-Will you sell me the [engine / tranny / rear door / axle / etc.]?
No. I'm not in the salvage business. Buy the Jeep. Love the Jeep. Give the Jeep a home.

-Will you take [insert ridiculously stupid low number here]?
No. If I wanted [ridiculously low number] I would have asked [ridiculously low number]
Want a cheap car? Get your kid that lowered tuner piece of shit honda project down the road.
I think I'm plenty cheap for this bad mofo.

-Why is it still stock?
Because I bought it for a daily driver with the intention of turning it into a project.
I haven't had the time to do so. So I am selling it.

-Can I put a 6" lift and giant tires on it?
I don't give a shit. But be sure to use quality components and for God's sake - get it aligned after a lift!

-Would this make a good car for my daughter?
Hell. Yes. Not only a good car, a learning experience. Introduction to vehicular maintenance.
Additionally, there isn't really enough room in the back for that little bastard she's dating to try anything.

-Can you deliver?
Within reason. I'd drive it a hundred miles or so. But really, you should come get it. Look it over. Have a beer. Etc.

-Will you take a check / cashier's check / Western Union Transfer / Nigerian Promissory Note?
Would you take a ball pein hammer to the forehead?
No. I'll take Cash. Period. Bring cash or don't show.

-Will you ship to -?
No. See above.

-No, really, all I have is [lowball dollar amount]?
That's great, I don't give a shit. Unicef ain't running this deal, and until they do I want $1750.
Why? Because I don't HAVE to sell this little beauty. Truth be known, I'd rather keep it.
But if it's going to a good home - I will sell. Unless you're an asshole - then no sale.

-Why are you such a dick?
Everything is relative; you should see my friends.

Any other questions, feel free to reply to this email and ask.

HAHAHA, another great CL Jeep Ad
http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/4236475468.html

See this Jeep? Yep you want it, as the matter of fact YOU F**KING need it! It's so awesome you've already posted Facebook pictures of it telling your friends how much you love it haven't you? I mean let's face it only douche-bags want 22 inch rims that cannot make it over a speed-bump, everyone else wants a Wrangler. Do you want to go anywhere? Hell yes you do! Do you want to pull up to the dick-nozzle in the Hummer H3 and laugh? WHO THE F**K doesn't? Do you want to own the most capable vehicle that has ever been made? Well as your father, grandfather, and the most bad-ass military force that has ever been assembled (THE U.S. MILITARY) have pointed out your entire life this is the shit! See that rock? You own that bitch! See that river? YOU HAVE A F**KING SNORKEL! See that $30,000 hybrid? YOU WILL BLOW THROUGH IT WITH MINOR TURBULENCE! See that sand, hill, obstacle, mountain, dirt-bike trail, mountain-goat passage, path that your weird cousin carved out with a push-mower in your back yard? They're are all your B.I.T.C.H.! Does it have air conditioning? Well, yes it actually does...(it makes wimpy people happy I guess). Does it have a brand spanking new top with tinted windows to make you seem all dark and mysterious? Yep, but you can take it off in a few minutes to bring the sun down on your face area. 31" mud terrain tires? Of course! As the matter of fact the matching spare has never touched the ground! Does it have a new fuel pump, fuel filter, alternator, starter, water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing, clutch-fan, radiator, brakes (front and rear), all hoses, belts, clutch (master and slave), headlights, off-road lights, front and rear (kill a mud-hole/sand dune) bumpers, battery, electronics, five point harness seats, stereo and speakers? Why yes it does.

If you buy this Wrangler today I will expertly cook you a pretty decent dinner of spaghetti, or try my my hand at giving you a haircut for FREE! I may be able to help you with your taxes or your credit score*.

*. This would be a stupendously bad idea.

I believe only with relocation of the coil pads. TJ axle should bolt right up but JK takes some modification.

I know the JK rears will not since they are coilovers but that would be a easy way to get a 44 under your XJ.

JKs have a 5 inch wider track width than TJs though, and TJs use the same width as XJs. So, i'm betting you would need to do some cutting and welding and even then it would be wider than the rear.

I agree but building for show is often more expensive. Like a bolt for a trail rig, $1.07~ zinc coated. Same bolt for a show rig, $5.53~ for a chromed smooth head... doesn't make it worth it though. :banghead:

Looks good, not the best pics of the undercarriage but good front what i can see. You always take a bit of risk going with an already modified rig, but on the other hand be ahead of the game getting mods you would have anyway for far less. So, key thing is, look it over well. The price is maybe on the higher end of the scale of what i would expect.

Don't believe that line about fixing it and it being worth 8-9k.

(Would be fun to mess with people with the air suspension.... )

For Sale: Supercharged Jeep Wrangler with 12,515 original miles and automatic transmission. Recently installed new soft top and hard top in my garage.

Jeep is in excellent condition, highly modified, adult driven and well maintained. No damage history, never smoked in, runs great.

This Jeep is well built with best of the best parts yet not so radical it cannot be driven as a daily driver. The air suspension allows for a low center of gravity and at the touch of a button raises 8" to clear the 37" tires (see height difference between second and third pic). With Currie axles and ARB lockers you won't have to worry about breaking on the trail.

Jeep has over $70,000 invested (not including labor), asking $26,000obo.

Equipment:
4.0L & Automatic
Avenger Supercharger (+100hp, 55% more torque over stock @ 4.5psi boost)
Banks Torque Tube Header (409 Stainless Steel)
Dual Tops (Hard & Soft) including new Best Top
6" Rubicon Express Long Arm Lift Kit
AiROCK Active Air Suspension
AiROCK SwayLOC Automatic Front Sway Bar Disconnect
Currie Hi-Pinion 9" Rear Axle w/ Disc Brakes.........Currie 9" Front Axle
Currie Heavy-Duty Tie Rod System
ARB Air Lockers Front & Rear
ARB Front & Rear Bumpers........Rear Swing Away Tire Carrier
Warn Winch (XD9000i) w/ Synthetic Line
OR Fab Roll Cage
Kirby On-Board Air (for active suspension, ARB lockers).....also to air tires up and run air tools
Walker Evans 17" Bead Lock Rims (including spare tire)
37" BFG KTM Mud Terrain Tires (90+ % tread left)
Warn Premium Manual Locking Front Hub Conversion
TerraLow 4:1 Low Range
JB Conversions Slip Yoke Eliminator
Tom Woods Driveshafts
Tuffy Subwoofer Security Console
Alpine Head Unit....New Kicker Subwoofer, Rockford Fosgate Amp, Boston Acoustic Speakers

Probably forgetting a modification but this Jeep is built and fully functional on and off road. It never breaks a sweat on the trails. The Jeep's condition is a 10 out of 10 and draws attention every time I take it out.

It's so unsuspecting.... roll up on some kid in his low rider... stop next to him and let air of all the bags. He would be like... did I really just see that? And if it's anything like the low rider bag systems, it makes a distinctive noise when you let the air out.

Or you could "flex" without even needing anything to put the tire on. Air up one back as far as it will go and let all the air our of the opposite bag.

I emailed the guy. He said he paid $3500 with tax and the cable shifters. When I've gone to the A.A website and picked all my configurations. It's like 2600. I'm not sure about cable shifter prices. But that (2800) seems high used even. Though it does only have 200 miles on it.

To be honest for $600 I may buy it just for the cool factor. You don't see those things around here unless they're in the junk yard and even then it's rare.
