I am a 26 year old living in Portland, OR looking at getting this particular Jeep. The dealership where it is at says the power steering pump is broken and it is leaking water. What do you guys think? It is a 4.0l with a 5 speed trans in it.

I guess it depends on the price ($960 total, or down?). Also why is it leaking water? Was the engine run hot because of the water leak? Oh and where is the water leaking from. From the head? From the block? Those would be very bad.

They lowered the price to 880 total. The dealer is unsure where the water is coming from. But the oil isn't mayo or water on the dipstick. So there isn't any gaskets leaking or cracks in the block. I am thinking the coolant resorvior is cracked since it is a 1990.

Welcome Hans. Get us some more specific info and we will be happy to attempt a diagnosis. Have you started it? Have them put some water in it and start it up to see where the leak is.

Yeah I started it, it seems to run good when I first called about it he said it was overheating. Which for me is not a big deal because I would just change it over to a open cooling system right away if I bought it.

If you are prepared to do that, sounds like a good deal to me. Used to live just south of you in Albany by the way.

Yeah I am prepared to do that I just need to know what it will take to convert the cooling system over is all.
