I took my radiator to a radiator repair shop this past Saturday. He is located in a group of warehouses near Highway 6 and 249. First time there, and I had no problems finding it.
He found and repaired the small leak quickly. He asked how much I paid for the 3 core all metal radiator. I told him $166. He said he had an aluminum radiator for about the same price. Intrigued I asked more questions. Turns out that it has plastic end caps, but what I found most interesting is that he REPAIRS radiators with plastic end caps. When I say repairs, I mean fixes them doesn't replace them with a new radiator.

After we got done with my radiator he pulled out the Aluminum radiator he was telling me about. It is beautiful. Knowing that plastic end caps can be repaired I might actually think about owning another one. Especially for a price that is under $200. Errol told me that the aluminum radiator cools 20% better than the stock radiators. I don't know if this was a 2 core or 3, I suspect it was 2.

Errol charged me $35 for the repair and $10 for a flush, so $45. He only accepts checks and cash! (currently)
His shop isn't fancy, but there are hundreds of radiators in there, and frankly every radiator repair shop I've ever been to looked like hell and did great cheap work. Errol told me he charges $75 labor to remove and replace a radiator.
If you give Advance Radiator "Errol" a try be sure and tell him that you are from xjtalk. I'd like for him to know where his business is coming from and who knows he might start offering us a discount.
