Yea we all make mistakes today was yet another one for me, I was taking my kids back to their moms house and while sitting in a left turn lane the light goes green so I start going ahead but I hear sirens... so I decide I need check my rearview well I see lights behind me so I start to proceed through the intersection but what does the fruit cake in front of me do... SLAMS his brakes,
Yeah I know I hit him my fault his damage was VERY minimal.. nothing a little buffing compund won't remove SERIOUSLY
and on mine... http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo167/seivey/100_1195.jpg
seriously I didnt even SCRATCH this guys car it was a little paint swap I didnt even see any removed from my jeep... I think I hit my tire on his vehicle and thats what left the marks... HOPEFULLY he figures that out and tries to remove it before calling my insurance. anyhow
Anybody know a good fab shop here in houston that can remove the old mount and weld a new one in place?

How much are those, I'm most likely doing both sides for strength integrity

I did the same thing to my xj. I bought a new 1/4 bracket from Rubicon Express for $45 http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Jeep/TJ/Products.aspx?folder=TJCA
and had 4 wheel parts on westheimer and eldridge weld it on and I thing they charged me $100 to cut the old one off and weld the new one on.

Maybe I don't understand how this happened. I don't think skids would make a difference. I mean didn't you hit the other vehicle with your tire and that impact did this damage?

Hey I'm not exactly sure on this... but since you hit her trying to get out of the way of an emergency vehicle then it is not your fault... I think there is a statute in Texas for that type of accident and I have heard in some cases the city will pay for it... you might want to check into it

My sister-in-law is an attourney and she is who I heard this from

Actually I believe this was even discussed at the xjtalk Houston area meet and greet.

i was saying some of the skids well at least the ones i had on my last jeep are welded to the tubed so this would of probably not happened because they are their so they do not bent like this.

in all honesty I dont know WHAT part of the jeep hit him... i THINK it was the tire cause there was NO scratches on his vehicle just two black marks but I would think there would have been damage to the Upper mounts as well... I DO klnow this much, there was already a little damage to the LCA mounts prior to the accident but the accident DID cause them to bend like that though

Yeah I COULD try that however whats the likelyhood of them doing this... I mean we ARE talking about city of Houston where the biggest crooks out here wear badges! It is just a mount and I dont mind taking care of it myself cause I wanna get upgraded strength whereas the others Insurance will only do factory replacement

Yeah you're right... its not that much of a fix... if it was in the thousands it would be a little different

Precisely!!!!
So I called almost every offroad shop in the houston area and found a place called javiers auto's unlimited... google is a great thing Anyhow I found them to be the cheapest with BOTH brackets at 40 bucks and installation at 200, PLUS i tossed a few names around and got an additional 10% off... Muddy we really ought to see about getting them as a vendor on here!!! that would rock
Anyhow the parts are Currie which have a great name in offroad performance
so Im not worried about that. the ONLY drawback is that I gotta wait until friday (SOP) to get the work performed as they are not open on saturdays

ouch sorry to hear, is this the same mount that you said you had tweaked earlier? if so the metal could have been bent and the sudden stop just forced it further...

NOOOOO Kidding man I was scared that I was gonna have to replace the whole axle to be the EASIEST fix... then I thought about my rear leaf spring plates and how those were pre fabricated so I thought wait could THESE be pre fabbed?
