btw i'm the yellow smiley, and the green one is my 35c......what a blow to the family jewels, that's why i'm buildin up an 8.8 now

Have you considered 4.56 gears instead? I'm assuming you'll be staying with the 35" tires. Other that just being even more awesome I'm going with the 35" tires so I can get back to stock gearing.

Been pondering 4.10's...well more than pondering, started settin up my 8.8 and purchased a 4.10 ring n pinion for is (cause i got the r&p and a master bearing install kit (motive & koyo i believe) for 180 bucks, couldn't pass it up. I'll see how i like it, then make a decision from there

first off lemme say i like the stinger on your bumber, been thinkin about doin the same once i purchase a welder

here's the list of what i have put on it so far (all bolt-ons w/ cuttin or drillin):
(in order of installation as well)

-roof rack w/ hi-lift jack (keep it off so i can park in the garage)
-hd bumper w/ 9000 ramsey on it
-2" budget boost (shackles & spacers)
-rear hitch w/ shackle
-tomken rockers
-warn transfer skid
-cb with 4' firestick
-compiled 8.5ish" lift:
-6.5" coils with the 2" spacers from the budget boost
-ironman fab 0" - 8" adj. uppper n lower c.a. (lengthened)
-4.5" r.c. rear leafs
-ironman fab 1.5" - 3.5" adj. shackles
-crown brake lines front n rear
-drop pitman arm
-adj. track bar
-sway discos front (no sways in the rear....they're worthless n e ways)
-front bump stop spacers on axle end
-skyjacker nitro shocks
-r.r. hd cross over steering
-hack n tap w/ xj front shaft
-m.t. mtz's 35x12.5x15 w/ procomp flat black simulocks
-air horns......wooo :shocker:

future plans include an 8.8 swap in the rear with 4.10's and an aussie lockah, maybe disc conversion for it....haven't decided yet, and regear the front to match, with maybe some alloy shafts on the front (the 8.8 is takin some time though, just finished cuttin off the old spring pads and sway mounts)

Well since you already got the 4.10. You'll like that a lot better than the 3.55. Mine was bad with 3.55 on 32's! lol

howdy Scott, same here with the names thing, except when it comes to jeepers, hehe. yeah i'm down for some wrenchin anytime (of course after work which is 7-7, or the weekends)

i will be out this weekend for a graduation, but after that i'll be down. my jeep is acutally going to be out of commision for a bit :smiley-scared002:(have my front d.s. out so i can go get it lengthened, then after i get my 8.8 in, gotta save some money for the front end regear!) so i'll be 2wheelin it for a bit (but the 8.8 will have an aussie, so i may be down for a little bit of wheelin in 2wd)

Cheap? lol no. Someone with more experience can jump in here but I think bracing the steering box would be the first concern, then the tie rod. I have braced my steering box by installing the custom winch bumper. The metal is much thicker. I need to do something about the tie rod.

Hey Chexmex,Thanks....The snorkel is home brew out of PVC....I did a thread in the modified section....Also the question you had for Mudderoy on steering brace....What I did with my jeep was a M.O.R.E. brace along with the Treck's frame brace....Then later added the DeTours backbone system for winch ,which added even more support....

awesome, thanks guys for the responses  looks like i'll be getting a brace

I also read that a good upgrade that's a direct bolt in is a steering box from a durango, and a pump from a 99 wj. i'll be going to the junkyards this weekend to see what i can find :D

The V8 Durango has a box with a larger hydraulic piston in it. Four bolts instead of three mounting bolts. Has to be the V8 though, the others are the same as ours.

got it in yesterday, easy upgrade, feels easier to turn (maybe too easy on the highway?) but very stout when going over bumps. after all was said & done, i'm happy i did it (plus my old one was leaking, so i had to replace it anyway. Next up will be a brace for the box to take the stress off the frame :D

welcome chex_mex. Iv'e seen a lota xjs with metal fatiuge at the steering box and ever since I saw it I've always done some sort of brace there. Last xj I had a brace that went from the box to the the other side frame made by rustys and this time I went with bumper and frame tie ins and steer box spacer made by JCRoffroad. You can check out their web page and see how much it strengthens that area however there are several other companies that make great stuff too and both did make a big difference never a crack yet. Other things would be the back bumper with skid to stiffen up the rear and tranfercase skid will stiffen up the middle especialy JCRs.

good ideas, always lookin on how to make the unibody stiffer! I was thinking about getting that rc stiffner, maybe ordering it this week. i have a rear bumper that will stiffen the rear some, and a skid plate as well (from tomken) that will help stiffen that rear, just need to put them in (maybe this week, but i'm headin to africa again on may 2nd :jail: so it might have to wait until a month or so)
