Mine is because I love my Jeep, I live in Indiana and I love the Indiana Jones movies. Well the 1st and 3rd (Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) the other two I wasn't all that thrilled with but I still loved the character. Not very original but I was watching Raiders when I was setting up my Gmail account and the name popped in my head.

prerunner1982

mine is not even Jeep related..

I have an 82 Chevy 2wd pickup... I had wanted a 4x4 but was forced to get this pickup (by parents, at the time I was 15). I drove it like it was a 4x4 and had 31-32" tires on it. A prerunner is typically a 2wd truck used to pre-run the race course (baja), now most 2wd trucks that are lifted or sit high are referred to as a prerunner style. Since this is the name I went by for so long why change it? This is my name on every message board so if you see it some where.. it is most likely me.

I have also had people ask me if I am a runner... which first confused me. Then I realized that a famous runner (Steve Prefontaine) went by Pre.

To each his own, but I don't know that I could stand using equipment that old. I mean I know that is the point of using stuff from the 40's (earlier?) but I had enough of HAM radio on a Heathkit HW-101. I love my IC-706, and if I could afford it I'd have something for the house.

well now, lots of interesting monikers to be sure. I'm LizardRunner for two reasons. first off, in 1969 I got picked to drive in the baja 1000. At the drivers meeting I bumped into a guy I knew, AJ Foyt, he nudged this fella next to him with blond hair and blue eyes and said, "this guy here will be tough as a lizard and he doesn't know how to get out of the gas pedal." The guy next to him looked at me and said "so your a Lizard Runner are you?" My answer "AJ said it, I always listen to AJ." That nickname stuck like hot gum on a shoe sole after that.

Now, interestingly enough when I bought my XJ, my wife said it looked like a lizard. so I decided to use my old desert nick name since it really fit this time.

It's been a while since I have played online, but occasionally people would show up with their real names. Everyone else is like MasterBlaster, or DeadNoob, you know creative names much like the old CB days.

I'll usually make a joke that Mark Smith's real name is GreenLantern or something fanciful.

Well I put PVT. because It is a constant reminder that thier are other's here that are smarter than I, and i try to be careful not to give out any bad advice. Secondly i know most of you folk's have rig's that play in the dirt. I cannot afford that with mine so it it my daily driver, But i want my user name to go along with dirt, or water , etc. so i thought Tadpol Xj.....:greensmilies-017:

well I've already put up the nickname from my racing days... My Biker "road name" is BoyScout, got that from my 81 sponsoring bro. Tiny (6'8, 420 lbs) cause the first time we met I was 15 and in the boyscouts. When I got my colors, sonny said my road name fit because I was always prepared.

My name comes from the movie Beerfest.

This German guy http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j388/sneedlevision/l.jpg who takes the guys to the Beerfest is named Mr. Schneidelwischen. The dude cracked me up with his yodeling.

So I turned it into Sneedle Vision and it stuck.

It's also my Xbox gamertag, if anybody wants to run Gears 3 or MW3 when it comes out!

My parents used to call me Dagwood after Dagwood Bumstead from the Blondie cartoons, because I was always slim but used to eat everything I could lay my greedy fingers on.
Dagwood simply got shortened to Dags as a teenager and at 44 I still get it, even though I no longer have the pigout/stay slim talent. lol.

When I was a kid I used to watch the movie "The Blues Brothers" over and over. One of the main characters was named Joliet Jake, played by John Belushi. The other was Elwood, played by Dan Aykroyd. I now live in Joliet, IL so it seemed like a logical name to use.

That was a funny movie, especially Carrie Fisher's small parts in it.

Well; I am the founding member of Krusty Mud Racing. The team of xj hill and holers that has the craziest stuff you've ever seen on/in them. 2010 Mud Racers Association class 5 champion. I also won 3 other points championships in 2010. In this process I set 2 national records. We've pioneered all kinds of things in the xj field. One thing we discovered is actually how tough a dana 35 can be with the right mods. If you got any questions on other stuff we've pioneered just ask...i'm full of useless and/or useful info:thumbsup:

Early in my career I worked as a broadcast video editor. That was back before editing video on computers were even thought of. I worked in edit suites that had 12 slave tape machine and 3 master record tape machines. These machines ranged from 2 inch wide video reel to reel tape to 1 inch Reel to Reel, 3/4 inch cassette and 1/2 inch BetaCam video cassette tape. We called them VTR's not the consumer name of vcr. Anyway, in video editing there is a term called matchframe which is an edit you do just before you create an effect such as a fade or even more elaborate digital effects. The ad agency where I worked in the mid 1980's created the first in house network I knew about and connected computers together so we could communicate within the building. We were told to think of a user name for our email address. After they explained to us what email was, we created names that were sort of job related to what we did. Since I was the in-house broadcast video editor I came up with the name matchframe. The other editors came up with other editing terms for their email address. Matchframe is sort of unique as a login on forums these days so where ever I sign up for a forum, it is never taken and easy for me to remember.

I have many interests and video has long been one of them. In college I worked in the media department. Mainly what I got to do was do a film chain to 3/4" betamax video on the VTR. It took me a LONG time to get used to VCR. I remember me and a friend video taped a basketball game. I though of using a RF switch box (A/B) that I had from my HAM stuff to switch the video between two cameras and a VTR we were using. You know a poor man's video switch. The head guy told me it wouldn't work. It would be video noisy.

It worked fine. :P We had one camera set up on one of those pneumatic lifts and one at floor level.

Olds-Cool because I enjoy old stuff. Old stuff is cool = Olds-Cool
I've been a bike guy for a while now and I've always had and chopped old bikes. I'm also into older tools cause they're made better, older electronics, old hotrods, and various other older things. I should have been born in the 50's, I'd have been right suited for growing up in the 50s - 70s. I also do some leatherwork from time to time and use the name Olds Cool Designs (OCD). I use the name just about everywhere now cause I hate remembering a bunch of usernames.

That is cool!! I never got to work with a film chain, but have seen them in action. I am still not use to the term VCR. Sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth whenever I say it, but very few people these days know what VTR means. I love the story about the A/B switch! Funny how even the most simple solution works great!
