me and a guy at work are having a debate and I wanted to see what xjtalk thinks. I have a 98 xj and I think that if I do a 4.5 lift on it I could possibly run over a small car, what do you guys think?

Maybe with tall tires and the right bumper. I could with mine with 7.5" lift

I don't know, but when you give it a try, be sure and let us know how it worked out

It depends on your front bumper and tire size. Basically the XJ with 4.5" lift and 32" tires is the same height of a full sized pickup. The body to ground clearance is more, of course. I could run up on a lowered honda from the front, but anything else the my bumper would make contact with first. I don't think 35's would make that much difference. That's only 1.5" taller than the 32's.

i think I could because of the trim on the fenders, and the skid plate on the bumper, but the bumper and lift is the key here. I originally built that bumper to deflect a deer under the vehicle if I ever hit one.
