G'day, Name's Matt, I'm from Newcastle, Australia. I recently Bought a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport (4.0L High Output) From the Salvage Auctions on Thursday for $600 And it seems too good to be true but everything works... The engine Runs Beautifly and The Engine & Gearbox Oil is very clean and at the right level. The interior is spotless. Great looking inside. And the outside looks just as good. Roof racks, But no Bar at the front, And it has 274,000 Kilometers on the Clock. Now i litteraly am dumbfounded As to how i managed to get a perfectly working 4WD.. of such fantastic condition for such a LOW price. Now I'm new to the whole concept of Owning a jeep, So is their anything about the jeep that i don't know.. Because The Car dealers that go to the auctions where i go wanted nothing to do with it.. even though it was a drive-away car...

Any info on what i should expect and any nastys i don't know about would be much appreciated, Cheers.

Thanks mate, That link was very helpful. I'm planning on using it for 4WD purposes. But i might end up giving it a higher lift, and a BullBar if possible. Their's not Much terrain where i am thats suitable to go for a good bash with a jeep. So it might just be for basic 4WD Purposes.. i have a couple hundred acres of property in nabiac that has a 8km hard road full of high steep hills and rugged bends and obstacles/holes in the ground... And i currently only have a 96 VS Commodore Sedan which is too low, and really would get hammered within 500 metres of the road. And i heard good reports of Jeeps being a tough, Lightweight vehicle. Which i thought would do the job for getting into my property. i recently put a 25km long 2wd road going into the main part of my property. and its even pushing it for a commodore.. so a Jeep was the most affordable 4WD i could get... i was eyeing a 87 sahara landcruiser but the dealers got a hold of that for $3000 so i got the jeep for $600 instead. I'm ecstatic about the condition and the overall excellence of the jeep ... and it really is a superior bargain...

The land is mostly all Bush. But i have cleared a few acres which i have laid the foundations down for the house, and have got 30,000 bricks waiting to be laid. Which is part of the reason why i have been after a 4WD because its nearly impossible to get up to the few acres in the middle of the block because its a very rugged road that can't be passed with a Commodore.

But as for the Knights. They are off to a poor start so far. Their's renovations for the Stadium though, Their upgrading the capacity of the The stadium from roughly 25,000 to around 50,000 in favor of the 2018 fifa world cup.... i myself follow the Parramatta Eels, But i still pull for the knights when i go and watch them. Except when they play the Eels. Haha

First off welcome. Second, even though I've been a HAM operator since the tender age of 16 and been Internet-ing since 1995 it still amazes me how two people 1/2 world away from me can carry on a conversation through my little old server! Very cool.

I owned my Jeep for 8ish years and I was approaching 100k miles. I really didn't think she had much life left in her, transmission and engine wise. I mean she ran great (over 100mph) and shifted fine but my prior experience with older US made vehicles didn't give me much hope unless I was willing to rebuild the engine.

I spoke with a fellow employee about his 1994 Jeep XJ and he told me that 100k miles is just getting broke in for the Jeep 4.0L. I really doubted this but I went online and checked it out. I was shocked to read that the 4.0L goes routinely to 200k and 300k miles. The AW4 transmission is usually good to 200k miles. This all varies of course with use and abuse.

It was at this time I decided I would start building my XJ so it would be more off road capable. The more I have learned the more impressed I have been with the vehicle. So what you may have been experiencing with the dealers is common sense just says that any old Jeep with that many miles is a liability.

lol bull bar for the roos. You know I thought it was bad here in Texas with the deer. I would HATE to hit one of those big kangaroos. :driving:

Did you know, a pregnant kangaroo can delay it's due date if say there was a drought or something like that?

'95 is a GOOD year, beef it up and enjoy! Welcome!

What a sweet deal to be a baby Kangaroo. I mean it's a nice warm pouch with an opening to watch the outside world. Sort of a "womb with a view!" :smiley-scared002:

If they are in the middle of something that can't be interrupted by a stupid human.
