I really enjoy fishing the two times I've done it. If I had the money I'd have a modest bass boat for fresh water fishing.

I love to fish, wouldn't be happy if I couldn't. In fact this year when you buy your fishing tag, you can now buy in to where you can have two poles in the water per person!!! Wooohooo for me!!

I like to fish with live worms, power bait, and my spinners, But I do have a big tackle box filled with "pretty" stuff just in case I need it :D

Here is the minnow they threw back.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/warriorsuspension/Cool%20Stuff/untitled.jpg

By law, you have to throw the big sturgeon back. In OR they have to be between 3' and 6' to keep them. This is bigger than that.

It is a Sturgeon. They are bottom feeders and can be found in large western rivers such as the Snake and Columbia system. They live for over 100 years and get larger than that one. It is not uncommon for them to hit 14'. It is the western US answer to Channel Cats

Normally I go down to fish of the west end of Galveston Island... We can have as many poles in the water as you own... yet even then, in the past year I've gone prob about 6 times and havent caught anything to talk about... My buddy caught a seagull that flew into on of our lines and got stuck, then bit the crap out of him untangling it! :smiley-laughing021:

Gave up on hardware fishing....am a fly fisherman now. Been doing it for over 20 years, love it! I use a inflatable pontoon boat. Go for rainbow, brown trout, cut throats. Till the fall then its off top the coastal area and go for salmon, and steelhead.
Got to love it!
Need the Jeep just to get into most of the spots. Thats why I am on a timeline to get something built and running. Guess if I did not spend $1500 on 2 rods and reels, I might have the money...lol

Yup, here in CA we can go out with a flashlight and pitch fork and just gig them. But in OR you have to fish for them with a fly rod. Red yarn on a hook works best. You have to put it in front of them and get then to strike at it.

I only fish from a kayak, and I only kayak if I'm fishing. I participate in on-line bass fishing tournaments. It's a blast. A big part of my getting the XJ was to use as a camping and fishing war wagon.

I haven't got to go much this year, though. Usually, I go at least three times a week. This year, though, we've had a drought that's kept the lakes and rivers WAYY down and the ones that are up have had that Blue/Green algae outbreaks and they say not to come in contact with the water. Then, there's been work. It's been hectic this year. Trucking has not been fun in 2011 so far.

Some of my fishing pics. Since this year has been such a bust, these are from last year.

Here I am fishing in Lake Skiatook, Oklahoma.

Here's a good one. I was fishing a small soft plastic creature bait (Strike King Space Monkey), and felt a little tap. I thought it was a really small fish.

It wasn't.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj298/picsofnate/P9250003.jpg

I put him on the bow of the kayak and was going to unhook him to turn him loose. That's when he let go of the bait and tried to bit me. That's when he got knocked off of the boat! Take a good look at the pic. He wasn't hooked. Mean little bastard was just hanging on. Guess he thought it was a frog and he wasn't going to let me take it from him.

When we go wheeling to Fordyce, I have a secret spot that is fun to visit. It is a little creek with pools the size of a pickup truck. In each one is a German Brown over 24". The little creek evaporates when it goes over a granite face, so no one knows it is there. I would like to visit the lake that feeds it and do some fishing. Unfortunately we won't have time this trip, but maybe another.

I live in the "Land of 10,000 lakes." Yep I fish. I'm mostly a northern/muskie and smallmouth bass fisher. I use heavier tackle. St.Croix rods and Pfluger reels are the only thing I run. I have about 8 setups ready to go all the time. I do catch Walleyes quite frequently too. (by accident) Caught this one last week, 24.5 inches, I released her.

Then it started to get dark, so I went on in. The bugs were getting bad or I'd stayed longer and got some catfishing in and paddled in a couple of hours after dark. Not a bad couple of hours of relaxation!

Nice!! I'd love to paddle and fish there. New Zealand has a lot of us goofy kayak fisherman....and a lot of sharks off shore, from what I understand.

If I lived that close to a fishing spot, I'd lose my job. There would need to be an intervention.

Been fishing a decent bit in the kayak this year. Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100. I've been fishing for smallmouth bass in a lake called Ford lake that was formed by damming the Huron River. Fished in the river a bit too.

I use Yamamoto 4" senkos almost exclusively, rigged with a 1/0 EWG offset worm hook Texas rigged. 6.5' Gander Mountain IM8 MH casting rod with a older Team Daiwa S series of some sort. Cost me an arm and a leg for that reel, but has provided over 10 years of solid service.

Been doing pretty well on the smallies, though they seem to moving a bit deeper as of late and it's harder to find them without a depthfinder to show me the bottom structure in the stained water.
