so it is getting warm her in utah so i got my bumper all wraped up this week end. it started out life as 5 inch cannel and 3/16 flat plate. i still need to do some braceing for the unibody and put some d rings on it but i will wait tell i get around to doing my rear bumber / tire carrier. her is some pics of the build and the finshed product.

so this is what the main frame of it is.

this is how it looked before the plate was added.

this one is the mounting plates getting welded on. they are 3/16 angle.

then i added the plate and the sides.

this is the welder i use to make all my stuff. nothing big and nice but it works good.

this is what i used to paint it. it is a under coating got it from checker for $7.99

then i got some of this to seal it all up.

here is some pics of me painting it after the stinger is put on.

now it is all put on and painted. i think it turned out nice i will be putting some d rings on it and some day i will make it so it will hold a winch.

well i got the welder on sale for $399 and then i got a grinder for like $28 i have made two front bumpers and one paire of slidders and a off road camp trailer with it. the cost for the front bumper is 5 feet of channel was about $20 out of the scrap pile. and the flate plate 3/16 for a 24x24 was like $5 out of the scrap pile. i had the metal for the mounts already so no money on that. the bar for the stinger 5 feet out of the scrap pile was $5.13 then i has to but a new spool of wire for the welder so $10 for that. then paint was $7.99 for the under coating and the spray paint was $4.99. did not pay a dime to get the stinger bent up used my buddys bender. so that makes this bumper $53.11 to build give or take. not to bad. but i still need to get some d rings so those are $15 each so i will be in to the bumper for under $100

welder belongs to the shop so free to me (i can use it anytime i need to i have keys to the shop) metal for the frt bumper was free from a friend and i paid 40 for all the metal for the back bumper. as for the rock rails, metal free from the stands that the carts come on and $15.00 for the bedliner that is still in the back of the xj :smiley-laughing021:as for the rest of the equipment ive had it for so long i dont remember what it cost  now for time i have maybe 15 hr in them and i wouldnt do it for under 20 or 25 and hr so that look like 300.00 to 375.00 so im still good as far as cost

I think everyone knows what the real cost to make these things are, but some newbies may not. Thanks.
