Hello, Everybody

A little about me eh! Well I think I will just talk about my jeep instead. I bought a completely stock 90 XJ with a few problems about 6 months ago and have been wrenching on it ever since. I first completely replaced the brake system nothing fancy just back to stock. Did a bunch of work to the fuel system. Fixed the valve cover leaks, followed by putting in a complete 4.5" Rubicon express lift with full leafs and adjustable control arms. I then put an SYE kit into my NP231 and taking a drive shaft from a 2005 TJ and replacing all the U-joints with heavy duty ones and getting it cut and balanced.

And that brings me to now where I wheeled on the weekend and by monday my rear main seal is leaking uncontrollably. Which will be my project for this weekend.

It may not be worth the time/effort to replace that seal. If you have a D35 it should be replced instead of the seal IMHO.

Sorry still kind of new what is the D35 and IMHO and my engine is not a high out put but from my research it isn't to bad of a job because it is a two piece. I just need to drop the oil pan and it should be accesible from there

Some people have good luck with the Dana 35, but it seems most do not. It is fine for on road, lite off road stock tires. The more stress you put on it the more likely it is to break.

You could just take it off road until it does break and then replace it with another axle, like the Chrysler 8.25, Ford 8.8, or Dana 44. You could replace it A.S.A.P. and not have to go through all the trouble of it breaking off road and trying to get it back home.

the d35 is a dana 35 rear axle. they are junk you want to upgrade asap. and i see that your jeep is a 90 they did the ho 1.6 in 92 so you will not have one you are right on that.

Just as a side note, yes it is good to replace a 35 if you can afford to and are able to. Being a 90, do you have the renix brake system with ABS? if so its not so easy it will require a complete brake system change and elimination of the ABS system and unplugging the rude little light on the dash. The 35 can be built to withstand the use of larger tires and gears. Not the best but still wheelable. Ok thats my 2 cents.

Good to know. I didn't know about that other stuff. Still I've read that you'll spend the same money building a D35 or buying and building a D44 or C8.25 so everyone recommend ditching the D35.

Thats one thing I love about my XJ is it is the most basic you can get. No ABS, No options, No problem.

Thanks for the try Sarge. What you have here are links to your local C: drive. We don't have access to your C: drive (Thank God). You need to put those files somewhere we do have access, like photobucket.com.

Make any sense? If not PM me and we can work through it. I'm sure everyone would like to see the pictures.

Sarg

Once you learn to use photobucket you will like it. It also serves as a backup for pic files and it is free.
