So I am looking to purchase some synthetic winch line for my Superwinch EPi9.0.
I was pretty sold on the 3/8"x80' AmsteelBlue line.
I came across some Rugged Ridge line on eBay last night for around the same price, little longer, also comes with a hawse fairlead.
So this had me wondering, anyone used either of these synthetic winch lines, anyone using another type they would recommend?

I have used and sold both with no isues at all, however Smittybuilt now sells syn line also at about 1/3 of the price. The 8k rope 11/32" x 100' is $221.99 and the 10k rope 25/64" x 94' is $235.73, and if our math is correct thats 1/64 bigger than 3/8's ,the 8k would be 1/32 over 5/16 so bigger rope less money .You can check it out on line @ www.smittybuilt.com

It's also a lot lighter.

If the drum will hold more line why is it always sold in pieces less than 100 feet in length. I would think you could easily get 120-150 feet on a standard drum.

Good question. I haven't started looking at synthetic line yet, but I plan to in the future. I just assumed that it would be 100' or 125'.

From the manuf. side of the coin they are just trying to get the same amount of line as cable so that the weight is reduced and for ease of use when pulling line. You can litterally have a 12 yr old pull line for ya.(my kids hate that part, but as ya know the driver must stay in the jeep lol ) From the other side of the coin you can have line custom cut , fittings put on a shipped out for a price. Also by limiting the amount of line they put out they can controll the price. Most people would be hard presssed to ever spool thier winch to begin with. Hope this helps.

When I get around to doing this, I would like 125' line for the drum and 100' add on for those long pulls. That way, you could pull the add on to the fair lead and then stretch to the anchor and finish the pull.

I was thinking of 100' easily myself. After speaking with Masterpull and Superwinch they both said they sell 80' for the EPi9.0. Though I think I am going to try out the 25/64" x 94', I found some for a really excellent price. I figure in a few months I will purchase a 50-75' extension anyways.

Whats an excellent price ?? How about $221.99 plus freight for the Smittybuilt.
