I bought a delay timer from Elk Products that I plan to install on my electric fan so it keeps running a little after shutdown. The problem is I have NO idea how to install it. I'm not real good with wiring up stuff and all the gibberish terminology related to wiring. Does anyone have any experience with something like this and can show me how to install it?

Like to help mudd but I have never even heard of one before. I don't want to rain on your parade but it would just be blowing on the radiator with non-circulating coolant so I doubt it would be very helpful.

I'm sure we can get it going through some testing.

You are going to need an automotive 12 volt relay to switch the efan. It says 6 amps(?) at 30 volts, so it will be less at 12 volts. Safer just to add in a $8 relay.

We need to figure a way to trigger it (trigger line). Looks like it needs 12 volts to start the timer.

I just woke up so I'll need to think about it more.

I haven't set up this type of device before. Too fancy for the applications I have worked with. However after reading this over, I suggest you want the "Delay Audible Alarms" mode. It is also the simplest to wire.

The positive wire on the control panel will become the switch for the fan. The negative wire that goes to control panel will just be a ground. The bell will become the coil in a relay for the fan. You don't want to run the current for the fan through the device, just the control current. Then match the switches for the time and mode. OK?
