Who makes your favorite winch? What model? Do you own one (or owned)? How long did you use it? How many pulls? Any failures? How much did you pay for it?

Well I only have experience with one winch. Its was a Warn M8000 thats in my avatar pic. The only problem I had with it was the Cable broke allot. I bought it used off one of my dads old bosses for $100 bucks. It was in bad shape so I cleaned it up and painted it and it looked like new. That was until I got stuck and a Dodge 2500 CTD ripped my front bumper off totaling it and the winch. (it cracked the housing.:( ) Although I just Ordered My X-mas present a Mile Marker SI12,000 for $540. SO my vote is for Mile Marker.

I have a MileMarker but want a Smittybilt. Never had any problems with the MM but want to try a different brand. I have had both Warn and Ramsey and the Warn parts if needed are way too expensive. I got the Ramsey in a trade and rebuilt the unit with new relays. The Warn was on a Jeep I bought and the motor was burned up. It cost $250 plus shipping for that one part and it was re-manufactured. Got about 20 pulls on the MM and it is very steady but slow compared to the others I have owned.

I am pretty much hooked on this wench too..........http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll187/90BlueXJ/women/Carmen_electra2.jpg

I'll take one of those too.

I have had a Warn 8274, which I never used so I sold it.

I had a ramsey PTO on my power wagon. What can I say? Slow, but unstoppable. I winched hundreds of logs to the landing to cut up.

I had a Mile Marker 9000 on my current XJ. It gave up on me in a mild pull. Still sitting dead on the floor of my shop

I currently have a Warn 9.5ti on the XJ. Only used once to winch a car on to a trailer.

santa said a new one wasn't in my budget, so he gave me his warn 16000lbs, from his red sled, note on it said -go big or stay home- just might be over kill, for my XJ but I do know, Im never getting stuck again, no more straps - haha

So far I'm happy with the Gorilla Silverback 8000# winch I have. Haven't used it all that much, but it's worked fine when I have. I have a REAL hard time justifying the outragous prices for a Warn, etc... when it spends 99.9% of the time sitting on your bumper doing nothing. The $399 Gorilla Winch fit the bill for me perfectly.

I had a milemarker that I abused to death TWICE over a span of three years. Blew through two motors and it still kept on pulling......with new motors of course. :)

Now I have a xrc8 and haven't had much play time with it. I can't seem to get stuck. :)
