New to the forum...XJ questions

I've had my 2001 XJ for about 5 years now. Daily driver with 175K on it. New rear springs, upper/lower ball joints, tie rod ends, et al at around 100K and looking for expert opinions on lifting my jeep. 235/70/16's currently with 1" spacers. 1.5" lift or 3" lift with the possibilities of adding more than the RC 1.5 or 3.0 lift. I plan on keeping it for at least 3 more years and don't want to have to put a shit-ton of money into a daily driver. Thoughts? Happy to be here by the way!

Welcome to the forum. The most bang for a buck generally is with a 3" lift. Best if done with new springs front and rear. However, the 01s are very sensitive to lifting and can develop rear driveline problems. The cheap way to fix that involves dropping the transmission cross member down an inch and shimming the rear axle to lift the pinion angle. The best and right way is to install a slip yoke eliminator in the transfer case.

Sorry, I don't see the emoji. But no thumbsdown. The 1.5" lift should be OK and give no driveline vibes. How would you do it?

Thanks for the reply 4.3 Maybe my clumsy fumbling trying to post photo's got the emoji! I have a local shop trying to (up) sell me on the 3" RC but, him being honest, said I had the 5% chance of driveline issues. I just realized the XJ has 16" wheels on it and already looks lifted. I'm thinking about going with the 1.5" RC lift. Shackles in the back, spacers up front and (4) N2 shocks all around. I had new leafs and shackles installed at around 125K as well as ball joints, tie rod ends and a bunch of other front end parts as I used it for LE sales putting a ton of miles on it the last (5) years. Now I'm back to a normal routine and driving ~60/day I'd like to lift it a "little".

Oh, and edited to add...new rocker panels, rear (rotted) bumber and bedliner painted lower 1/3 next month!

If you have a problem with driveline vibrations, you can follow the procedure. However the issue with the later XJs is brought about by the driveline slip yoke extended too far out.

Good looking XJ. Spacers and Shackles will be ok especially since you have newer leaves in the back.
