I've ordered some textured plastic that I plan on cutting to fit around the twin sticks.

I had that same problem with mine, so I shortened up the levers and made them straight. Those levers work well in a TJ or JK, but not in an XJ

Well it fit, but I didn't like the clearance between the cross member and the Atlas, specifically the bolt heads.

The two remaining items on my list is install drive shaft, due in tomorrow (well three install front drive shaft when it comes in) and hook of the 4 wheel drive sensor.

The sensor on my NP242J does not fit the Atlas. The sensor they sent me did not include the pig tail and other half of plug. I did get the part number for it though. 12015792. Apparently it's a common item available locally.

Oh, I'll add the sensor that lights up the indicator on the dash is hardly necessary to use any of this, it will just be nice to have and may make things easier for my wife or kids if they are driving my Jeep.

Just my 2 cents on this. I know it might be nice, but I just look at the position of the shift levers. Lots of travel involved, so no mistake on what is engaged and what is not

No I agree, it's not for me it's for the family. Everyone drives a Jeep with 4x4, everyone has an indicator when it is in 4x4. Mine would be the only one that doesn't unless I hook it up. I'm sure you've run across people that are just overwhelmed and confused when faced with a small change. Three sticks that look radically different from what they are used to is enough.

Oh and speedometer worked first time! I don't have GPS hooked up right now to verify it but it should be the same as the NP242J

I did a little 2wd low and I think the speedometer is low by, I dunno, 3.8 times. :D

22 miles to work this morning. Had some minor vibrations during hard acceleration, but otherwise fine. I did have that NEW Atlas smell when I got to work though.

That's awesome... Been seeing/following it on FB, as I can do that on my phone, and for whatever reason can't follow :xjtalk: on my phone... Can't wait until I hit the lottery and can get to an upgrade like this on my XJ.. Then again that money will most likely go to a new engine first before I can bother with doing a TC upgrade like this... So I'll just have to live vicariously through you guys!!!

Silky smooth up to about 60 mph, we'll see what 70ish is like in the morning.

Silky smooth up to 80 mph. Last night when I was installing the front drive shaft I was surprised that the Altas was hot to the touch some two hours after my 22 mile trip home in 93 degree air temps. Possibly norm, but I was surprised. I'll need to IR scan it to make sure it's in acceptable temp range.
