I wanted a rear bumper, looked at a few aftermarket, JCR, Dirtbound, Smitty, they want a lot of money for a pretty poor bumper. They are just shells, no real substance, couldn't do it. I then turned to my pile of steel and thought "hear we go". This is what I came up with, I am just going to post picks in build order. I guess all I can tell you is it does mount to stock holes and also frame rails, the pivot on tire carrier has a full length bronze bushing and the toggle clamp has a 500Lb rating.

Man, looks like a FINE piece! I'm hoping to build a rear bumper and carrier... eventually.

Sent via messenger pigeon. I talk, he types.

Looks great! thought you were going to recess taillights into it for a minute!

Did you use a spindle/bearing for the carrier or just couple diff sizes tubing?

HA,HA, thanks very much denverd1, no, no taillights. I do kind of like the idea though. I do want to make some tail light buckets, just not sure what I want to put in them. I used what I had in the shop, bushing bronze, it runs the full length in the pivot, I still have to put the grease zerk in the top, it is very snug and I think will hold up quite well.1433914340

Great work! Your bumper looks like an aftermarket one. How I wish I'm good in fabbing also.
