I'll probably die of old age before it happens, but I have thought how it would be fun to drive the XJ to say California to see the redwoods, or to Area 51 to take the tour.

My question is this. What happens when I drive from Texas, a state that believes that YOU are smart enough to do what should and shouldn't be done to your vehicle (for the most part) to a state like California who wants to regulate your ability to expell methan in the privacy of your own car.

Does CHiPs pull you over and tell you to add mud flaps?

No spot inspections in the North state. I have heard of some in the Los Angeles area. North part of the state is prettier anyway. The ony mudflaps you see are on rigs with full width axles on a 79 Toy PU body

With TX plates you are only subject to TX laws here in Cal. So come on up and say hi !! I'm sure 4.3ljx and myself could show around some !!!

I have heard that many times. Before you travel there, you need to make it conform to their laws. Frames no more than 24" off the ground and no bead locks and tires covered are the biggies I understand.
