So I was catching up on my listening to the JeepTalkShow and an segment caught my attention in EP. 299
It was about soft shackles which then went in to kinetic recovery rope and how they are not all the same, some kinetic recovery rope manufactures inflated their strength claims.
Now what really caught my attention was that it was mentioned that many reputable offroad publications have done tests on them.

I tried looking over the interweb to find the tests done by any offroad magazines or other publications and I couldn't find any.
I have a BubbaRope and I've been thinking of buying another one but from another manufacturer because of the cost of the BubbaRope.
Does anyone have a link or even tell me when these were publisehed and by whom?

Thanks for the link but that's just on straps not kinetic ropes.

Hey, Friday is a slow night. I have a Bubba Rope I won online in another forum. But I haven't tried it out yet. I do have one observation though. Many people opt for a recovery strap that is too large to stretch. Mine is a 2" and it is a little too strong. I had a 2" tow rope that was just right. Like a big rubber band. When I was in the service, we towed a ship with a 4" towing hawser that was like a rubber band. Heavy seas didn't bother the tower or towee at all

I started this thread about 4 weeks ago so unless it's been a slow month....
Wait till you try the Bubba Rope, everyone that has tried it can't believe how smooth the recovery goes, I've actually had a buddy who thought the rope came off because he never felt anything.
I had a friend use his almost stock TJ pull out a Chevy 2500 from a quagmire that a built XJ couldn't budge. The 2500 broke a front shaft and had open diffs so it was just down to "one wheel peel" action. He took a running start and that thing popped right out, the Bubba Rope stretched so much that I thought the TJ was going to slingshot back to the 2500 but nope the 2500 came to him.
The guy was so happy, he was there for over an hour with the XJ trying to get him out, of course they were just using a regular strap and you could see the dig marks from where the XJ was spinning its tires

It might be awhile for trying the rope for me. No mud here to speak of and I don't see sand except once every few years. But I do know the value of a good stretchy recovery tool. I have a Mighty Mite that weighs in at 1750 pounds soaking wet. Try pulling other rigs at twice the weight out of the Oregon mud. Not gonna happen when they have their diffs hung up on the center berms. The rope will most likely be used to tow people in the rocks. I don't think I want to sling shot in those situations. I have a strap with a little stretch in it that has a short chain on the other end for those without recovery points. I am looking to get a soft shackle to replace that recovery feature
