Rebuilt the AX15, converted to an external slave clutch....
Rebuilt the TCase and converted to a SYE...

I'm sure this has been asked or discussed, but I can't seem to find anything (phone sucks for search)
The current measure from bolt to bolt for the needed cv shaft is 34"
I know that there are some ZJs and WJs that have front drive shafts in the 33.5" and 34.6" range.

I can pick one up at the local Pick n Pull for cheap, replace the u-joints and spend like $100 +/- getting it balanced.

That should work... but I wanted to verify.
Anyone?

Yes, but make sure that one end has a double cardan joint. The WJ has a Rezepa joint and would not be suitable for you

Some ZJs use the rezepa joint also. Both of my ZJs use the double cardan. I think it was some of the V8 ZJs with the 247/249 TC( I can never remember which is which) 95 and later used the Rezepa joint.

Sent from a van down by the river

Kinda in the same boat the driveshaft I have is a bit short at 33" extended, but awhile back I had found a source for driveshaft lengths and which models to look for with engine, trans and t-case info. Here is the link

Found a 98 Grand with an Auto...
32" resting length... extends to 35"

U-Joints in OK shape too.
:bacondance:

Just have to put the shims in.
...picked up 8* and need to mock it up and might need to return them and order online.

Current diff from rear pinion to tcase is 12*, but the change of the rear pinion will also change the angle of the shaft.
..............and they didn't have the 10* that I initially wanted.

Same Pick n Pull in Sherwood had a GrandCherokee with a nice looking front shaft ~ I didn't measure, but it was an auto... so it should be good

Would an XJ front driveshaft not work?

The longest collapsed length for a xj front drive shaft is 31" and extended around 33". Zj driveshaft you can get one that's 33" collapsed and 35" extended. With my 6.5" I need one collapsed at 33". The front xj shaft I have has little movement before its fully extended. With something smaller than 6.5" lift a front xj driveshaft would be fine. Around 3.5" a custom driveshaft might be needed.
