For those that don't know, Photobucket is no longer a free service. All those pics you uploaded are going to cost you to share in the form of links. For a mere $400 per year they will now share your photos. I notice we have some current threads that have the bomb. You can see your photo when you post the link, but no one else can. Other options?

Ugh this is such bullsh*t. I lost ALL my threads from like 10 years of forum postings. I cant tell you how crappy it is, and now they are trying to charge $400/year? Good luck with that.......

I am going to try to switch to Imgur, hoping they dont follow suit and start charging in 5 years or so.

Can't tell you how many threads I lost

I'm guessing photobucket's investors got tired of losing money every year and pushed to try to monetize their subscribers. Seems like they really miscalculated their leverage though, $400 is waaaaay too much for what they do.

If you can't get to your old pictures I bet what they are trying to do is get that one time $400 so you can download all your photos. I bet they are cashing out.

You can still access the photos, they just turned off the ability to embed them in other sites like XJTalk. $400 is crazy to turn that feature back on though, I would have at least considered signing up for a premium account if it were closer to $2.99/month.

No way! That insanity, $400 is clinical insanity.

I haven't checked but my build thread, write ups, several years of posting... wow, that's how you make a bad name for yourself. Why would anyone, even if you have $400 setting around to waste, use this service ever again since they already screwed over their client base.

I'll just say, that sucks. Would take several straight days to fix this mess, if I had any time for it...

Not just us forumers either, lots of people were using Photobucket for businesses/blogs etc. Doubt they'll even be a company for much longer with those business practices.

Was checking Apples Photo App. If you have an extension, you can use it about like photobucket and they are free for apple users. Maybe we should get Tony his own extension

Just checked, yep build thread is now dull and near useless.

I did foresee something happening with these types so I started using xjtalk uploading almost exclusively a while back. I trust tony won't go greedy on us! But hopefully moderators will get a break if so. [emoji14]

Wow... this is horrible! So many threads from everybody on here are rendered halfway useless without photos! I shall be removing all my photos from photobucket and closing my account there. Now to find another image hosting site...

Yesterday I removed all my pictures from pbucket and closed my account. I have them on my phone so I'm going to try to go back and replace them with Tapatalk. I hope it works.

What method are you using to download pics to your phone?

BTW if you've never really understood what the "CLOUD" is well this is the cloud. Your stuff on someone else's server.

On pbucket app they have download pictures and I used it. But I had all my pictures in albums and I just downloaded the albums. I would do some screen shots but I deleted the pbucket app from my phone after I deleted the albums from pbucket.

I also download my phone to my laptop every once in a while and then to SD cards that go in my fire safe. Probably overkill but I have family pictures I don't want to lose.

I was looking up something on Google and a bunch of the images were missing and in their place was the photophuchit(lol) kill sign. Guess this messed up a bunch of people's posts.

This messed up all kinds of people's posts all over the internet on every forum.... and even quite a few companies/businesses... mainly the smaller ones... Either way... I hate to say it, but I hope PB ends up shutting down, due to this stupidity.. I don't see all that many people paying $400 to make it worth it... Think it would have made far more sense, if they had offered folks to be able to pay a lower rate per month.. and if you were running a business where you needed to share a lot of photos, for say a company website, or huge build threads for a shop or something... then you pay for the larger package..

I have been downloading all my photos. Nearly a gig on their site. About half way done now. Apple has a way of sharing photos that you store on their cloud. I wonder if we can make that work.

Interesting... I started downloading all my photos today from PhotoPhuckit (Thanks Tony) and it tells you that only pictures are being downloaded, and you can download videos and GIFS individually. When I click on my videos to download them, it says "We're Sorry, This video has been renamed or deleted by its owner". Every. Single. One. Guess those are screwed.
