Abebehrmann gets to take full credit for this one, after he posted pics of his portable band saw I just had to have one! So after kissing up to the wife for a while she let me order one! I went with a dewalt DWK120, I wanted a corded one did not see the need for this to be battery operated.

A few days after it arrived I was walking through the shop at work and came across this burnt out dewalt mitre saw, then it hit me, a mitre band saw! I was trying to think of a way to mount it to make straight cuts anyway and now I can do 45's and compound cuts!!!!

So I stripped the mitre saw down and reversed the main hinge.

And then came up with a way to mount the saw.

Then finally mounted it to the base.

I am going to have to find some aluminum to make a new rest because the band saw does not reach fully to the bed, but it makes nice straight cuts!
Then I wanted to also do what Abe did and have a vertical band saw, I made the same mount for the saw, which was much easier now that I had the mitre saw! This mount I was able to mount into my welding table which conveniently had a big hole in the centre already!

So now I have a mitre bandsaw, portable bandsaw and vertical bandsaw for only $500!
Thanks Abe!!!!
