Thanks everyone. Nice site. Might as well introduce myself.
I am from Southwest Ohio. I also have a retreat in the natural bridge area of Kentucky that we travel too about every other week. This is a 3 hour drive.
I bought my 2000 XJ to have as a winter work car. It had 235000 miles on it but ran just fine. I decided to build a 6'x10' utility trailer to haul goodies back and forth between our cabin and home. The 4.0 hauling the trailer up those Kentucky hills was not ideal so I decided if I kept the Jeep it was time for a few upgrades. I bought another complete engine out of a 1999 XJ. Tore the engine down and began building my 4.6 stroker. After waiting for what seemed like an eternity on the Edelbrock head and the custom forged pistons I pulled the old stock engine and made a crate dolly to store it just in case. I have not made it to the dyno yet but plan on it before spring. The engine is running very well. I data logged tps, a/f ratio, rpm and sent this info along with my stock PCM to Chris@christuned in Cali. I highly recommend his tuning service to the stock PCM. He made the necessary adjustments and it runs great. Idles perfect, great throttle response, pulls strong and runs cool.
Trailering now is not much of a concern and I usually cruise at 70 mph with the trailer.
Other usual mods, bumpers, winch, LED's, made my own safari roof rack with locking tire mount. Made a custom manual cable front axle disco from an airplane control cable.
Thanks again!:xj-red:

If you ever get tired of having adequate power I could sure use that motor. :D Nice job picking parts. I think you're the first I've heard that actually has the edelbrock head. Dream part for me!

Welcome to xjtalk, and I concur... pics please.

Sent via messenger pigeon. I talk, he types.
