Thanks for the Welcome!! I'm fixing driveline vibration on my 2000 XJ after I installed a Rough Country 3" lift with full rear leafs a couple weeks ago. Had to cut my old shackles off because the bolts seized in the shackle sleeves, so I ordered an OEM shackle. They came in and looked weak even compared to my old shackles, so I ordered a set of RE Boomerang shackles. They do lift the rear about 1-1/2" more though.
The installation instructions from RC are weak and there was no mention of the installed shim on the bottom of the rear leafs, so I had just installed them the way they came, not taking into account the shim because I didn't really notice it. Driveline vibration was the result but I had no idea what was causing it. Tried the "other" forums, Google, etc and narrowed it down to pinion angle after almost replacing u-joints! I bought some 4° degree shims from 4WheelParts along with center pins and starting tearing my rear suspension apart again when I noticed the shim already in place but backwards from where it should be for my rig. It was probably correct without a shackle extension but not with my Boomerang Shackle! It appears to be about 2.5° so when I turn it around it will be a net effect of 5°. I came in from working on it to Google the rear leaf setup to see if anyone had similar issues and came upon this website! Nice write-up on pinion angle! I'm hoping that the 5° net angle will be sufficient. I'll be installing a Smitty-Built XRC Rear Bumper with tire carrier so I'm sure that will help lower the rear a bit as well. I'll post a pic after I get it finished today and check out the site more. Thanks for the write ups!
