Heh, I'm looking to make major changes to my cherokee's ignition switch system and gauges, figured this would be the place to get advice ...

Such as is there any way to get the active RPM's of the engine, speedometer and/gas gauge and odometer readings without having to hack something ugly onto it? A 'guest port' would be awesome...

.. and my Jeep was stolen and recovered recently. Once is enough, poor 96 cherokee has a column jack-able ignition. Thinking of replacing it with an NFC key fob and just a push button (Like, for exanple, the new Dodges and not spending a fortune) I can get and wire most of the parts ... just not sure how to go about the actual replacement bit ...

I'd post a picture, but my poor jeep has all of our kitchen contents in the back and the passenger rear quarter was bashed in when my daughter turned in front of a rather large and heavy pickup truck ... so anybody got a cheap 2 door rear passenger quarter panel with window cheap? I can weld and cut metal ...

Chris, yes there is. Since you have OBDii, you can use a blue tooth adapter on your OBDii port and your smart phone with Torque app.
