So I got a 2001 XJ with a 3 In lift and a vibration that kinda comes and goes (mostly around 60 mph) besides having play in the drive shift im not sure what all I have to do/replace. I would like to upgrade instead of just replace but Im not the most knowledgeable or experienced Jeep owner so any and all help is appreciated.

Welcome Izzy. The late XJs are very susceptible to rear drive shaft vibes. You mention play in the rear driveline, up at the top no doubt. This happens because there is not enough spline engaging the slip yoke. There are two remedies. One is to drop the transfer case down an inch with some spacers. Works, but not the prefered method. The best way is to get a slip yoke eliminator kit. They start at around $90 and use a front drive shaft to replace the old one and go up from there. Bear in mind, you get what you pay for.

Is there a certain kit you recommend?

Advance Adapters has the best and strongest complete kit out there. But if you go with another, make sure it has a tail housing and shaft. There are what is called hack n tap kits where you cut off part of the splines and then drill and tap the end. But if you don't have good skills in that area I would recommend against that

Found the kit for $189, sound right? Also would I have to change the drive shaft? And if so is the Conventional Double Cardan Drive Shaft the way to go?

$189? I see $499. But yes this is the idea. And yes you have to change the drive shaft. That is the whole point. You will have to shim the rear axle too. When you get to that point there is a how to article on here

The $189 kit didn't come with the drive shaft but it seems better to buy it all together. Don't know if I trust myself to do the swap but it didn't look too hard. Ill see about ordering the kit soon, appreciate all the help.

It isn't hard. I recommend pulling the tcase completely and putting it on a bench to work on since you have to split the case. Invest in good snap ring pliers.

Make sure you get the correct kit for your t-case. Your model will either have the np231, or np 242. The transfer case shifter bezel will tell you which. The 242 will have a full time option noted, whereas the 231 will not.
