I have a 00 that did not come with an eng/trans. I am swapping a 96 eng/trans into it and now see that the wiring harnesses between the engine bay harness and trans harness are different. Ive read that I need to swap some internals from a 00 trans or I may be able to splice the wiring.

Ive looked and can't find much information on this. I know the 00 was wired for a 2nd VSS that was in the 97/98+ trans. If anyone knows of a write up or what wires need to be matched please chime in!

UPDATE:

96 and older cannot swap into 98+ without significant work and at that point might as well get the proper trans and harness. But heres a link with lots of info on swapping AW4s

Thanks. If you need stuff like this in the future I suggest the local public library. They generally have a complete motors manual section in the reference section which you can usually copy. It won't tell you how to do what you wanted, but you can get the info so you can figure it out
