starting to build my new daily driver XJ. 2000 xj aluminum 5.3 4l65e from monster trans ford dana 60 4340 shafts with 35 spline outers 5.13 gears ARB front with a 14 bolt shaven to the TMR 15 bolt conversion with Yukon grizzly locker on 37"

Well having a CNC mill is certainly handy for that. But I have to ask why you would want all that beef in a daily driver, unless of course you will be taking it out in the rocks

got the plate welded on the 14 bolt hope to have the trusses welded on by the end of the week

thanks guys, got a little work done on the armor/tube flairs this morning before work. finish them up tomorrow morning and send them out to powder coating tomorrow after noon. ill post more photos

got my parts back from powder coating and shortened the passenger side tube on the D60 and go the C back on. going to finish the trusses tonight

well I have the tires already don't know if I will go with 6.5" or 8" lift

I have the same tranny you do. That bell housing is kind of big compared to the 4.0 housing. Advance adapters recommends 4.5" minimum. I have found that at 6.5 you need to have some steering mods or your tie rod ends will not handle it at full droop

yea there was some surface rust under the battery try and coil buckets so I sanded it all down and painted it since I have everything pulled. going to be finish welding the front truss at lunch today.

will you have to do custom axle inners up front?

yes and no. im using a 94 ford dana 60 it worked out when I cut off the 2" in the long side to match the 14 bolt rear it ended up being a chevy inner dana 60 shaft. worked out great!!! going to start installing the ARB and gears next day or two.

the Dana 60 truss is fully welded on, just have to do the control arm mounts now.

the coil buckets on the axle are the same width of a D30. just have to weld on the control arm mounts and then install the ARB and gears. still have to machine the spindles for the 35 spline outers but that is easy

finally got the ARB and the gears in the Dana 60. the pinion nut messes up the pinion threads and I had to take a die grinder with a carbide bit and cut the nut off. what a pain

I paid a visit yesterday, and Brent hepled me bend up my stinger for my Xj, and i had to steal his old fender flares and mounts....

But while i was down there we made some non-repairable holes in the Xj. Can you guess what these are for? :D

I took a few pictures. But yeah those things sucked! The nutserts were the worst part of it. We stripped out the "install bolt" every 3 or 4 nutserts. In the end it was worth it though, because those things look great!

He started cutting on the rear yesterday too, so alot of the metal in the pictures is now gone.

This beast is really coming along. I know Brent hates it because all the work thats done is not in or on the Xj yet, so it feels like nothing is getting done. But in all actuality hes got a ton done so far, its just all behind the scenes lol

them stupid chickens man they piss me off lol. yea I hope to get the jeep to work this weekend and start welding in the frame stiffeners and the rear 4 link in so it looks like something is getting done. the 14 bolt is getting welded up after work. the new 4L65E will be here today after lunch. got the LS6 cam installed in the aluminum 5.3 and swapped the oil pan over also.

had a little problem with the 15 bolt pinion support. got the gears set up last night after work and going to get the hubs and disk brakes all on next bay or two.

got the rear all together and the center and rear frame stiffeners welded on over the weekend

I am pumped, just want the thing on all 4. we rolled the axle under it with the 37" and it looks sweet. the tires stick out just past the flairs nicely

got the rear in last night, 8" coils in the rear with the high fender flairs is a bit much. going to swap them out for 6.5" and see how that looks. but the rear is on the ground!!!

thanks Ryan, got it on all 4 last night. 6.5" of lift but still have to get the front upper control arms made still. have to adjust the front lower arms a bit still. Im going to grab the front fenders and the armor tonight and put them on and see how it looks.

got a little work done on the jeep. sorry for the lack of up dates. go the t case all modified and installed, and drive shafts just showed up today. got the front fender flairs on and front end mocked up. the plan is to get the steering done this weekend and finish up the wiring and do a test fire is the goal......

thanks, the tire carrier is all TIG welded and the bumper is both TIG and MIG welded. lot of time into making this thing. just have to cut out for the flush mount lights in the bumper and make a carrier support then off to powder coating.

finally got the rear bumper and tire carrier done and powder coated. the last few days have be long. getting to work at 6 working on it for 3 hours, work then get off at 6 then back to work on them till 10. it was so worth the work

Looks good. Ever have that style of D ring rattle on you? Thinking of putting some on my D44 rear axle for trailering purposes.

going to try and get some of the wiring done this weekend and the steering finished. going to re install the axle and the knuckles so I can measure for the tie rod and drag links needed. get them cut and tapped so I can send it out to powder coating Thursday

well small update, got the knuckles and hubs back on from being machined. I had the knuckles drilled out and new tapper inserts made so I can have the tie rods on the top of the knuckle vs below. small thing but help with the steering angles.

they're great for trailering. mine are offset from the bumper with a tab so I've got brake hard for them to hit the bumper. I've gotten use to the CLANK sound they make! I don't think the rubber hose would hold up to a strap going through them often, but that is a good idea to isolate them

Well, Brent started his new gig, so I figured i should update this for him....

He got the steering all done, the rear bumper/tire carrier is mounted, the shifter is done, and a few misc things are tied up.

Hes hoping to get the brakes bled and fix the shifter, and have the exhaust done this weekend. Then a few more misc things to button up, and it should be close to ready!

On a brighter note, the LS Xj moved out of the garage under its own power on Monday! Its loaded on the trailer and off to the exhaust shop as of yesterday, and then it will be getting an alignment, and hopefully after that it will be ready for the Crawl for the Cure a week from tomorrow!

Yeah, I just happened to have a friend who has some huge build threads on his 4BT XJ (well now a LS swapped XJ)... as well as a few other people he knows that have huge build threads on their rigs... and they had seen that their stuff was messed up and when they looked into it... found out Photobucket had changed some stuff and was no longer allowing people to link.... I'm just glad I was able to download my album from Photobucket so I'll still have my pictures that I no longer have copies of elsewhere...
