Thanks for the welcome guys, I currently am buying parts and peices to build up an XJ, I have a '90 that is complete but has a 4cyl 5 spd, and an '88 with a 4.0 and auto both bone stock. My plans are to make one very capable rig with good clearance, good articulation, good ride, but still capable of short (30 mile) trips on pavement. I will mostly use it for hunting (I am an ELk hunting machine) and wheeling on the weekends some in the summer(I also race a dirt stockcar so time is limited). It needs to have at least "33X9.5 under it. Anyone with suggestions for parts to get this done is welcome to comment!. When I actually have something to get pics of I will post them!

Welcome! Your plans sound like fun. Short of running 4.88 gears, I can't think of any reason you wouldn't be able to run what you are suggesting and have it as a daily driver. I have 32s on mine now, but plan on 33s or maybe 35s for the next set. I'm running 4.56 gears.

Use the 88 as the 4.0L is much stronger and for that much lift I suggest a longarm setup. Only use full leafpacks in the rear and if you have any rust fix it first before venturing further with the build.
Pics of bone stock XJs are welcome as well.
