Howdy.

Swapping injectors next week with 4-hole Bosch 0280155784 units. Common XJ upgrade it seems.

Anyone here done this? Any gotcha's to watch out for?

Thanks.

I pulled a bunch of 703s from a Status at pick n pull but could only find 4 do I've yet to put them in. From what I've read it smooths out your idle and acceleration. Some people claim mpg boosts but that's probably because they never changed put their old, dirty, stock injectors. When I finally get around to pulling 2 more I'm going to put them on and report back.

Some things to note: make sure you're getting the right ones. There's a bunch of variations and it can get confusing. Of your pulling them from a jy bring a battery to test them. If they click they're good. Replace the rings and screens before putting then in your rig. Be patient! It took me 6 cars to find the right ones. Persistence pays off in the jy.

Thanks. I ordered a set of 6 remanufactured ones. Seemed to be a reputable source. Ultrasonic cleaned, new o-rings, filters, etc.

I was thinking of that but pulling and refurbing them is cheaper. And gives me something to do on the garage while the wife handles the dogs and the kids.

Got the 784's in last night. Pretty easy, no troubles, and it runs smoother. We'll over time if the fuel economy improves. If it does at all it's likely only to be minimal. Maybe I'll get a little and it will balance out the loss I got with the new wheels/tires.

I bought a set off a guy on FB, and it certainly smoothed my idle out... Like you said Matt, most people who report a better fuel mileage is mostly because they are replacing 100k+ mile dirty injectors with clean ones that are running optimally... I mean I'd have to think fuel being atomized with the 4 hole would have to be better efficiency compared to the 1 hole version though... so to a point I would have to think it'd give you better mileage either way.. just not sure on any amount!!

What came out of mine looked to be original, so they had 186k on them.

4 of my XJ's have the 784 injectors. Got them from a guy on another jeep site. no problems so far. been at least two years in each jeep.

These are the flow ratings for the most popular Bosch injectors used in Jeeps and their uses:

Bosch 0280155712 19.4lb/hr @ 43.5psi - Stock replacements in Renix 4.0 XJs

Bosch 0280155703 22.7lb/hr @ 43.5psi - Stock replacements in 4.0L HO Jeeps, stroker engines making up to 240hp in '96+ Jeeps

Bosch 0280155784 26.3lb/hr @ 43.5psi - Stroker engines making up to 250hp in '87-'95 Jeeps (39psi rail pressure), stroker engines making up to 280hp in '96-'04 Jeeps (49psi rail pressure)

These four-hole injectors have a wider spray pattern than OEM single-hole injectors for better fuel atomization. Benefits are improved fuel economy, improved driveability, and lower hydrocarbon emissions.

So far driveability is improved and the little misses, sputters, and such have been largely smoothed out in the idle. Nice and smooth at 690. Generally just more fun to drive.
