Gas pedal?

I drove my jeep home and was not a fan of how low the pedal is I hear its supposed to be like this but Im wondering if it would have any ill effects to cut it about an inch shorter to raise the pedal higher to where i'd like it. I think that is about like they all are. You could put a spacer under the pedal mount and accomplish it without messing with the cable
