Gutter mounts/ 2x4 roof rack

So this weekend I damaged my roof rack when I tightened down my canoe too tight. One of the brackets busted.

I've seen this coming & been wanting to replace with a gutter mounted rack that has the 2x4 cross beams. Has anyone seen these? I've seen a few but can't seem to find anything on Google.

Can someone help me find the gutter style mounts I need that will allow me to attach a 2x4 cross brace?

I will have to look. There used to be a rack put out by Con Fer, no longer manufactured that had 6 gutter mount attachments. You might look for a used one

Is that a base for a cargo rack or can I mount a 2x4 on that?

That is just the mounts. You can build off it. But there are other cross bar assemblies available. Why don't you give 4wheel parts a phone call and see what they say.

Rhino Rack ... pricy but damned good. Have used them myself over the years. Different leg hts are available. Handy modular system ... but you pay for the convenience.

This one looks as if it has some decent material thickness. Easy to mod.
... and considering Ive seen it advertised here for $360au ... $50 US seems like a bargain .. :rolleyes: :D

Even the ARB kit is worth a look at - in US dollars ... 6 brackets for $130.00 is not bad ... considering the hype attached to the brand.

One I had seemed to hang on pretty good.
