Hola amigos. Thanks for the warm welcome. Just picked up a 98' Cherokee. It's a two door. Bone stock(for now). 107k original miles on the 4.0. Auto and of course 4x4. Seems like all the cool kids are going with the 3.5 RE Superflex lift kit so I'm looking into that option. SYE and lower the T case? Does that sound about right? I'll probably cut and fold this one. It's been a few years since I've been out wheelin'. This is my first jeep. My last project was a 86' Blazer/6"Lift/35"s. I'll be forum lurking here and there for ideas.

Sounds like you found a nice base to build up from... The 3.5" height is a nice height to get you out there and having a good time with your XJ. If you are going to put the money into doing an SYE and installing a stock front DS in the rear, you won't have to drop your TC. If you are wanting to save some money, then you will be fine doing a TC drop, and not doing an SYE... Running a 3.5" lift, you should be fine with the TC drop, but if you got the money to do the SYE, I'd say go ahead and knock it out... Feel free to lurk and post up with any questions, ideas or thoughts you might have while going through your build!! Look forward to seeing your build as it progresses!!

I agree. You will be much happier in the long run with a slip yoke eliminator

The tc drop and sye are done seperately. Cheaper to do the drop but the sye is the better option. I'm at 5.5" in the rear with a 1" drop and shims, but will definitely be looking to do the sye in the hopefully not so distant future.

Welcome to xjtalk and looking forward to your build!

Sent via messenger pigeon. I talk, he types.

Ok cool. I get it now. Im definitely leaning towards the SYE from the get go if funds permit. Why redo later, right? Thanks guys!
