I thank it's the water pump. Or the AC compressor . I put on a new belt, idler pulley and it won't go away. Thoughts and input.

Drop your belt again,
Make up something that will you let spin the individual items with a battery drill.

Piece of wood with a bolt through it, or a small rubber, sand paper disc, or something else that will work.

Probably waterpump tho ... at a guess.

Or even if nothing else.. try removing belt, and start it for just a quick bit.. and see if it still squeals.. if not... then something there in the accessories position... could even be the tensioner pulley... if it still continues to squeal... then I'd say take a look at distributor... My XJ does that from time to time... I thought it was something in the accessories position on mine, but tried to run it for just a few minutes with the belt off.. and it still did it... so I was able to narrow it down to the distributor (which I need to replace soon)!!

It's a bit sketchy going around the pulleys but if you're an adrenaline junky get a mechanics stethoscope and listen to each part. Should be able to tell pretty quickly.

Sent via messenger pigeon. I talk, he types.

Well it is the ac condenser and the water pump.
So a new water pump. And getting rid of the ac
Don't use it.
The pump is the original with 270k+ on it.

For the people that have it or done it.
Do you like it or wish you would have fixed the the ac compressor.
I see I can get a bypass from doorman pt#34171 local for $35.00.
I don't use my ac in xj. Thoughts and input please and thank you.

I suppose it is where you live. I like my AC and it is well worth the money I put in it

This is a trail rig only. The bearing in the compressor is shot.
I do like the onboard air. May look for one at the local
Pick and pull. Thanks for the input guys.

IT could be the brand of belt. My wife's jeep hates Gates belts. I get a different one for her jeep.

No I tried 2 different belts. When i spin the pulley you can hear.
The bearings or the lack of. It gets about one turn and it stops.
I sprayed some fluid film in behind it and to try and free it up.
And it no move.
It doesn't matter now I took it off after work tonight.
