Quick Question: What approximately should the engine RPM be on my 1999 4.0
be at 60 mph on level ground at sea level.

That depends on a few things. What gears do you have, what transmission do you have and what size tires are you running?

Steve did you try the grimmjeeper link you linked to in the original thread? It doesn't work for me... not sure if it's my work blocking it or not.

EDIT: Disregard... it's on my end.

I also have a 99 Auto 4.0 and mine runs right around 2k @60mph.

I have a 98 XJ with a 4.0 and a 3" lift with tires slightly larger than stock. It runs at 2k at 60mph as well.

Everything is stock. I'm running a little over 2K RPM. I get the impression that I'm not getting 4th gear.(I think that's the one that's supposed to be 1:1 ratio (overdrive?) Got TCC 740 MIL. If I can find TCM plug I'll check for solenoid resistance tomorrow. Code seems to reset (to on) somewhere around 60 MPH. Thanks for the information.

1:1 is direct drive. Its 3rd gear in an AW4 automatic and 4th gear on the AX-5, AX-15 and BA10/5.
