I have an 01 XJ i want To change the rear diff fluid i think its the Chrysler 8.25 rear so Whats the proper fluid is it 75w or 80w90 GL5 and is the front diff the same? Also is it better to Buy a new gasket or use hight temp copper RTV on the cover. And one more thing im gonna change the T case fluid while im at it a 231 i believe is dexron III ATF the correct fluid. Any info is appreciated thanks.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/28/cbe873b8c1c2ffb562e262cbff879772.jpg

80W90 i a good choice. If it is going to see hard service you can put some Power Punch in it. ATF for the 231

80/90 is fine in front and rear for general use.

If the rear diff is a limited slip then you need an LSD additive ... or a LSD oil.

If you're working the diffs hard offroad - or doing a lot of towing - you might want to step up to 75w/140 ... as per the factory specs for heavy duty use.

Grey RTV is fine on the diffs. but use the hi-temp stuff if thats what you have.
Gaskets are good if you can get 'em.
Make sure you clean ALL the old RTV off.

I bought a lube-locker gasket for my diffs when I lived in Florida to make it easier to change the fluid in case some water got in after deeper water wheeling. You can change the fluid quite a few times before you need to replace the lube-locker gasket but it might not be worth it to you if you don't normally go through deeper water. Grey RTV works really good too, I just got tired of prying the cover off and having to scrape it clean.
