Rear seat

I just realized that the bottom portion of my rear seat comes out stupidly easy. My question is why?

Is it completely latched into the two little parts?? And is there a little release handle on the one side?? I have seen some of those broken off and or jammed in the release position in the JY's

It latches as it should. I was just curious why they designed it to come out so easily. What's the purpose?

Yeah I don't know why they are designed to come out so quickly... I guess so you can take em out if you need that tad bit extra room that the bottom of the seat takes up when you fold it all down... about the only thing I can think of...

I can only fit my icehouse in the XJ with the seat bottom removed. That extra 8" or whatever can be freed up that way. Im assuming thats all it can be for really.

If your front seat reclines, then you can take it out and still recline with the back seat down

If you leave it in and roll it forward to lower the back rest,
... only short legged folks can sit in the front seats.

Take it out, with the back rest down,
... and normal folks can sit in the front seats without having their knees up round their ears.

... personally, I like being able to drag the thing out on a whim ... As it makes a mockery of our nanny state vehicle legislation - that requires rego (DMV) paperwork changes for seating changes .. :D:D
