hey just a quick question anyone have a 50" straight bar roof/windshield mount, do you have a lot of wind noise, what is the best way to mount it, or should I get a curved one

My kinda new member! My experience with the 50" lightbar is that mine gives me a very minor amount of a high pitched hum between 30-35 mph. The only way I can hear it is if I have the radio off and there's no other noises (like other traffic etc) to drown it out. It's nothing to worry about but there are some little rubber pieces floating around you can get that slip over the cooling fins to dampen the vibrations.

From what I've seen the curved bars run a bit more money while giving no more output so I can't really see the pros other than if you just like the look. I personally think the straight goes better with the squared off body style off the xj.

As far as the mounting I make these you can check out

:welcome: to :xjtalk1: from Delaware!! Would say the 50" straight bars are not at all a bad deal... and Jake makes some awesome gear.. I have his pillar pod mounts, and they are nice and beefy... and mount nicely and securely!!

Anytime bud! The mounts are $90 with free shipping. I keep some ready to go, so same/next day (depending when you order) shipping.

Just north of Houston. Starting to cool off here, been a hot summer. I'm betting you guys are pretty chilly by now. :D

There are plenty more pics on the thread I linked above.

Lol, well not tooting my own horn too much... I believe so. Mine spread the load with over twice the height and uses 5 mounting points per side versus theirs only 3. Also there's are for a curved bar.

I'll vouch for them. Have a set on mine, super sturdy, the bolts are in the door so people can't mess, and they just look good. Jake does great work, and i guarantee he gives better customer service.

Mine whistles a bit when the wind is just right and going certain and the planets are aligned... I think it depends on the bar. I've heard to just take some vacuum tubing and slice it lenghtwise and put that over the top and bottom fins to stop the whistling.
