Does anybody know where to get one of these? And are they the same for both manual and automatic transmissions? Went to the mopar site and they have the cps for the manual but say it's been discontinued for automatic. Mechanic put in a crappy aftermarket even after I specifically asked him not to. Guess if you want it done right you've got to do it yourself.

These guys have them... Crank Sensors from Rock Auto (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1180112&parttype=7196&a=www.google.com%2BSearch%2Bfor%2B1992%2BJEEP%2BCH EROKEE%2B4.0L%2BL6%2BIgnition%2BCrankshaft%2BPosit ion%2BSensor&blanktemplate=true)

You might need a different year!

I drove down to the dealership and picked one up.

I called the dealership and they said they could order one but they weren't sure it was the right on for an automatic transmission. I'm starting to understand why the new wranglers are catching on fire...

Chrysler parts books have to be the worst I have ever come across

... So dont be surprised when the parts bunnies are confused .. :D

FWIW ... according to the '99 parts book I have.

part number ... 56027 866AC

The only other crank sensor listed on the page is for the little 2.5l motor.

Ok, so it should work for both a manual and auto trans?

Sorry if I'm being redundant. Just want to be absolutely sure before I drop $113 on it

The parts listing only has the, DGS, designator for the AW4.

Stuff for a manual transmission ... is normally designated DDQ

... so according to the parts book ... there is no CKS for a 5spd

... or maybe its a chrysler secret that both models use the same CKS .. :D

That or they want us to think the cam shaft sensor reads the flywheel via Bluetooth 😂

Hahhh ... remember I said the parts books are a horses arse .. :D

Forget that number that I originally posted above ... its for an o-ring or something.

You want the common ol, 56027 866AC sensor. Its the only one listed for the 99 4.0l ... and has no designators for the model variations.

FWIW - Ive had a PC308 StandardMotorProduct equivalent to the 56027 866AC fitted for years - with no problems ... was about $70 from rockauto at the time.

Yeah, I've heard good things about standard. Might go that route instead. I've heard of people getting the part from the dealership for $70 so I think they're trying to screw with me anyways.
