Hello, all! Been a while since my last post... A friend of mine's S10 Blazer has kicked the bucket, and so he's buying a "new" one for parts. I figured that because of how saggy Bella's rear springs have gotten, taking the springs from whatever Blazer he doesn't use and splicing them with my springs would be cheaper than buying new springs to begin with. Any thoughts?

This is done all the time, but you will get a lift of at least 2" just using one leaf

Alright, cool. But what I was thinking about doing is taking all of the support leafs from the Blazer and replacing them on the stock Cherokee's... As for the 2" lift thing, then it'll easily be almost 4" on mine!

I believe a lot of people take the S-10 pack and just use the XJ main leaf.

Bottom three leaves from the S10 will give you 3.5"

Are S10 Blazer and S10 pickup springs the same?

I'm also hoping to install some TJ flares, but that is a post for another thread... But, do the S10's use coils in the front?

They use torsion bars in the front.

Dang... Oh well. Coil spacers will have to do to level it for now. But first and foremost, I need to actually get the springs.

Try to find some V8 ZJ front springs (1"-1.5" lift) and 2" spacers if you are going to use the lower 3 of the spring pack as Steve mentioned.

Now, because of the added height, would I have to do anything to the transfer case? Or is 3" the absolute extreme end of the slip yoke?

You should be ok at 3'', most people will say 4.5'' is the limit of the slip yoke but each Jeep is different. Worst case scenario you'll have to do a transfer case drop which is pretty cheap and easy.

Alright, cool. Most kits for that I've seen are just longer bolts with spacers.

Ok, so another question... Is there anything in particular that needs to be done to hold the bastard pack together? Or will the stock hardware on either pair work?

You will need a new center pin (bolt) Most of them are about 4" long. I didn't cut mine off afterwards so I could change leaves in it quickly and easily.

Steve do you know what size bolt that may be...

It's been a few years since I did mine, but I know I get them from 4 Wheel Parts and I think it was a 5/16''.

Because of Steve's suggestion at the time, I left mine long so I could easily switch leaves which came in handy when I was fine tuning my ride height.

Sounds reasonable. What about the bands around them? Every add-a-leaf I've seen has had them...

I reused my stock bands for the ends, and bought a couple "universal" ones for closer to the axle.

And i used a 5/16 bolt for my leaf pin. I Just ran it through to a nut on the bottom of the mount on the axle..... I think thats the weak point of my suspension and i should probably replace it soon. Im kind of afraid to drive on it lol

yes, 5/16" is the size you want

Alright. What about U-bolts? Will the stock ones work?

Perfect. Now all I have to do is go get the springs!
