So my headliner is sagging all over. I am going to replace it.
Is this a do it yourself project or do I need to pay a professional.

I was also thinking about insulating behind the headliner? Maybe/Maybe not?

I was thinking about a cool pattern of camo or maybe the same thing.

I could use everyones thoughts.
I love this site.

Thanks

Rob

Kinda goes along with the camo theme.

Do it yourself is going to cost about $120(ish) if you do it right. Right being like the factory did it.

I did my own.
Use good products and go slow. Don't rush, especially when you are gluing.

IS it really hard, or just a pain? It needs to be done, maybe on a nice weekend.

What about the fabric I use?
Can I insulate the snot out of the ceiling?

Maybe instead of Dora I should get Little Einsteins. So funny.

It's not exactly hard. You do have to concentrate, and plan your move before you make it.
I glued mine a section at a time. And used a small foam paint roller to press the fabric onto the glue.

The fabric. It would be best if you used a foam backed fabric, as otherwise the glue tends to show through. It did in my case, anyway. But it didn't detract from the appearance, in my opinion. I used a heavy cotton drill.

So it sounds like I can do this. I just need to pick out a material. Also can I insulate behind it at all?

The headliner you have now has a foam backing. That foam is deteriorating and the fabric is dropping down.

You need to get the same kind of fabric with the foam backing attached if you want it to have the same factory appearance.

You can get just run of the mill fabric and glue it to the board, but it's not going to have that factory appearance, or sound.

I'm not saying one way is better than the other, just saying they are different.

When I re-did the 99 headliner I found a company that sells the stuff with the foam backing and it turned out really nice.

When I go to redo mine in the 98 I'll do the same thing.

I don't think you can put any insulation on the fabric. You might be able to put it between the fiberglass(?) board and the metal roof. I don't remember how much room is in between there. Seemed pretty tight.

Yeah, some blokes down here, have used self adhesive acoustic/thermal barriers straight onto the roof panel. Works well.

How much would new foam cost and where would I get it.

Also I think I can get a thin layer of sound proofing and thermal insulation in between the roof and foam. I think
