Play in Rear Wheel w/New Bearing

Hi,
I replaced the left rear wheel bearing and seals in my 1989 w/D35c. Everything went okay but there is no difference in the wheel play between the 'before' and the 'after'. :confused:

The axle is in there all the way and the axle-hold-in plate is tightened up where it should be, but still there is the play - up-down and side-to-side. Please don't tell I have to replace the rear axle assembly. :pray:

Not sure about the 35C, but the 35 non C and the D44 both have that play in the axle bearing. It is a Dana thing

The right side wheel is play-free, maybe thats the side I should have been looking at. ;)

I have my eye on one. I have had them before and they all have a little play in the rear bearing
