View Full Version : Regular vs oversize oil filter

Once I discovered on this forum of the availability of using the oversize oil filter vs the standard one, it was a no brainer for me. I don't add any extra oil, but use the extra filtering capacity instead. I took a picture today after changing the oil on my daughter's 2000 XJ. She was visiting from Madison Wisconsin where her usual oil changes are done. I just wanted the members and visitors who are not real familiar with this subject to see a comparison when the two are placed side by side. enjoy.

Extra filtration and oil capacity is a very good thing!
Having 4WD means getting stuck in more inaccessible places!

Think I'm going to look into a remote filter location like that.. although only single filter... just cause I'm tired of fighting with the factory location...

Reminds me of some of the fuel filters/pumps we put on trucks…
When you break it down, the extra capacity filter doesn't actually do a better job, it just doesn't get dirty as quickly (which is good for long idle times).
