So i checked the plug and have 12 volts going to it, then checked ohms and have 51 from a- and 50 from b-c. Plugged iac in out of the housing to watch it move. Turned key to on and you could feel the motor but the pintle barely moved. What does this info say to you?

I would say that it is sticky. If you cannot clean it up and get it operating properly, get another

Maybe, just maybe that is why i die at idle

I should be able to see it move when i turn key on right. How much should it move on that test?

In theory it should open all the way, but I am not sure on that

So i put a new iac in. You could tell a difference. Idling at 700. It still died quite a bit but i am assuming the computer needs to remap the new iac. So i think i need to tighten up the tranny pan so it does not leak and get it out on the road. Hopefully it will clear up the idle issues

Would it be a safe assumption that a 2000 cherokee does not have an egr valve? I dont recall seeing one when i took the engine out and i saw that parts stores dont carry one for a 2000.

I believe the only 4.0 to have egr is renix models (87-90). But i admit i don't know that one hundred percent.

The 4.0s in mine and my wife's 98 Grands don't have an EGR valve. I don't think any 4.0 from 91 up had a EGR valve. Haha Look it up on Rock Auto web site and see if they offer one.

Just swapped out the IAC in my buddy's TJ on Firday and his was caked with crap causing him to idle rough, stall and throw a code. He had already purchased a replacement before before I pulled and tried cleaning it but man did it make a huge difference. I never did check to see if he kept the original because it would make a great back up especially since I cleaned it out and had it looking like new.

Well, i am needing to tighten tran fluid pan bolts before i can drive it around some see if it made a difference. Got all tightened to 150 inch lbs but the back three. That crossmember is a pain in the ass. Will hopefully hit those tomorrow. Had to stop today and get to some hunting grounds and get my deer spot setup. Next saturday its on in that arena!
