Did the 1994 jeep use R-12 or R-134 from the factory? I bought a 94 a few years back and PO told me he never had to touch the ac system in the years he owned it. Now it's not blowing the 40 degree air anymore and I believe the system is original OEM equipment.

1994 was the year for vehicles to switch to r134a, but some vehicles changed before others, I think. However, there should be a sticker with tiny print that states which refrigerant and how much it holds somewhere in your engine bay

Should look similar to this

You can tell what it had in it by looking at the AC fittings. The schrader valve for R12 looks like a tire stem, but larger. The valve for R134A is larger and clip on

Thanks for the info.

I could not find a sticker this morning but I only had one cup of coffee at that time. (The fittings will be the "tell" for sure)

How difficult was changing it over to R134? Did you do it yourself and then have a shop fill the system?
