Do stand thing has started. My dome lights will not turn on when I open the driver or passenger doors. The lights all work correctly when I open the rear hatch and when I twist the dimmer. I thought it was a pair or door switches gone bad but the key buzzer turns on when the key is in and the door is open. What an I missing?

Do they come on when you rotate the headlight switch?

Yes. They also come on when I open the rear hatch.

They do NOT come on when I open the driver or passenger doors.

That doesn't make any sense. Any modifications that might have caused an alternative electrical pathway? I know unpredictable things can occur when that is coupled with a blown fuse.

Could be, but nothing that makes any sense. No modifications have been made to the switch.

Have you checked voltage at the door switches themselves?
I'd pull em out, give em a wire brush treatment and reinstall.
Or replace them altogether.
The entire dome light circuit is on a single fuse. So we know it;s not going to be that.
If it works with the switch, and with the back door, then we know there's no short.
(if there was, it would blow a fuse)
And since the only things that control the light are either the door switches, or the dimmer switch, and the latter is working.... process of elimination points toward the door switches being bad.
Pull both out, inspect, then report back.
Good luck!

Was it the GMC that you installed the LED lighting in? If it was in the XJ I thought that might have something to do with it.

It's in the XJ. The passenger side didn't work before the install. It's just strange that the switch kills the key buzzer but doesn't turn on the lights. I'll explore it more with a multimeter when I get a chance.

I believe there are two wires on the DS door switch.
